Kamal Subedi, who entered politics from the social sector, has entered the parliamentary journey by defeating former ministers and former mayors. The 38-year-old is entering parliament for the first time, representing West Dang.

He has won by defeating powerful leaders from Dang-3. He has defeated former Irrigation Minister Deepak Giri, former Finance Minister of Lumbini Province Dhan Bahadur Maski and former mayor of Tulsipur Sub-metropolitan City Ghanshyam Pandey, who are in the election fray for the sixth time.

His main competitor was Deepak Giri of the Nepali Congress, who defeated him in 2079 BS. Giri was defeated in the same constituency in 2051 BS, 2064 BS and 2074 BS. Giri became the Irrigation Minister after being elected in 2070 BS. Now Subedi has defeated Giri, taking revenge for 2079 BS.

Central member Ghanshyam Pandey was the candidate from UML. He was elected as the Deputy Mayor of Tulsipur Municipality in 2054, the Mayor of Tulsipur Sub-metropolitan City in 2074, and in 2079, he was defeated by Dilli Bahadur Chaudhary of the Nepali Congress for the Provincial Assembly seat from Dang 3(1). Now Subedi has defeated Pandey.

Similarly, Dhan Bahadur Maski was a candidate from the Nepali Communist Party. He resigned from his position as a Provincial Assembly member and entered the election. Maski was elected as a Provincial Assembly member from Dang 3(2) in the 2079 Provincial Assembly election by getting 22,362 votes. He was also the Finance Minister of Lumbini Province. Now Maski has lost the opportunity to become a federal MP along with a Provincial Assembly member.

Subedi was born on 16 Mangsir 2044 in an ordinary farmer family of Mauli, Dangisharan-4, Dang. His early education was from Laxminarayan Primary School in the village and Birendra Secondary School, Hekuli. The pain of losing his mother at a young age taught him the harsh realities of life and the importance of service.

Subedi, who had a rebellious nature and raised his voice against injustice, tyranny, corruption and injustice since his school days, was as strong as he was in class and was equally determined for social discipline and good governance.

After completing his master's degree in political science from Tribhuvan University, his thirst for education did not subside. He did a diploma in 'Development Leadership' from St. Francis Xavier University on a full scholarship from the Canadian government. He has visited more than 45 countries around the world and closely observed their development and good governance.

He has also led various social organizations while working in the field of public issues and policy making at a young age. Unmarried Subedi is continuously active in social work. He has made his role as an important young man who has continuously taken the initiative in the creation of the Youth Ministry, Youth Council and 'Youth Vision 2025' in Nepal.

Leading the Federation of Youth NGOs for a decade, Subedi inspired thousands of youth to seek a future in their own country . He held policy dialogues with parliamentarians on issues of climate change and environmental protection .

He understands that politics is a medium of service . ‘I want to use politics for service,’ he said, ‘I have spent an important part of my life in social work . Now I want to connect with the people through politics .’

He has established the ‘Bishnu Devi Foundation’ in memory of his late mother and is operating a free ambulance service for the poor and helpless . Be it the horror of the 2072 earthquake or the COVID-19 pandemic, he always took to the field to heal the wounds of the citizens .

He established Community Radio Hapure to spread the light of information in West Dang . He entered politics while being active in various social works . Subedi, who entered alternative politics in 2079 BS with the belief that ‘old heritage does not build a country’, ran for the House of Representatives election in 2079 BS from Dang 3 and received 15,326 votes. The election was a way to get closer to the people of West Dang.

Subedi, who has been working day and night to shape the party’s ideas and principles as the Secretary of the Central Training Department of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) since its inception, has finally succeeded in making it to the parliament on his second attempt.
