From Rupandehi-3, the RSP candidate, senior neurologist Dr. Lekhjung Thapa, has won an impressive victory. According to the election office, Thapa has secured 58,814 votes. His nearest rival, Sushil Gurung of the Nepali Congress, has secured 8,435 votes. UML's Basudev Ghimire has secured 8,275 votes. RSP's 7,789 votes. RSP leader Deepak Bohra had won from this constituency in the 2079 elections.

RSP's Lekhjung Thapa has won from Rupandehi-3.

Thapa continued to conduct door-to-door and voter meetings in his area. The by-election was not possible due to the Gen-G movement in the country.

This time, the RSS announced him as the candidate in the parliamentary elections. As a result, Thapa was meeting voters in his area while other parties were debating who would be the candidate. During the by-election, the RSS had issued an open call for candidacy. During that time, 9 people from Rupandehi had expressed their aspirations. Thapa was selected as the candidate after completing the internal process including the primary election held among the aspirants.

Thapa, a long-time resident of Rupandehi, is a renowned doctor in this area. He used to come to his hometown for two days a week for 15 years to examine and treat patients. He also has a neuro hospital in Anchalpur, Bhairahawa. He also visited the neighborhoods and consulted patients while seeking votes. After getting information that the doctor was visiting the house, voters would also tell their physical problems. They liked Thapa because he listened to the voters and was moved by their emotions.

Doctor Thapa said that he had prepared two 'logbooks' and noted the problems of his area and the voters there. 'I have also noted which houses in my area have problems,' Thapa said. 'I will fulfill the people's desire to see change. I have also made a plan for what needs to be improved.'

Along with health and education, he said that he would take the initiative to solve the problems seen in industries and businesses, from Gautam Buddha International Airport in Bhairahawa to the city. ‘This victory has given me a lot of hope,’ he said.

Thapa studied MBBS from Manipal College of Medical Sciences in Pokhara and MD from College of Medical Sciences in Chitwan. In addition, he has a PhD in autism from South Asian University. In 2024, he completed his graduation in Safety Quality Leadership and Informative from Harvard University in the US.

Before entering politics full-time, Thapa worked as the head of the neurology department at the National Neuro Center in Maharajgunj, Kathmandu. He is also the founding president of the Nepal Stroke Association.

Dr. Thapa has been working for a long time to spread public awareness about serious health problems like stroke and improve the treatment system. Thapa joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in Asad 2080. After that, Thapa, who began his formal political journey, was nominated on the proportional list from the Civil Liberation Party in the 2079 elections.
