Nepali Congress General Secretary Bishwo Prakash Sharma has said that he and General Secretary Gagan Thapa will go ahead as they are close to the party's future leadership.
Addressing the second special general convention held at Bhrikutimandap, General Secretary Sharma said this.
'As the party's driving seat is close, both the party's general secretaries will go. We also take responsibility for that. We have accepted that,' he said, 'Now in a country where a new situation has arisen. In order to face the new situation, the mindset must be changed. That mindset must be changed. It is impossible to create a new situation by keeping the old.'
The special general convention has begun at Bhrikutimandap in Kathmandu since Sunday under the leadership of General Secretaries Gagan Kumar Thapa and Bishwaprakash Sharma. The registration of the names of the general convention delegates who will participate in it is ongoing. The registration process is underway from eight 'stalls' today. The registration of the names of the delegates began at 9 am this morning.
The Congress has stated that it has arranged one stall for Karnali and the Far West, one stall for the public relations committee located abroad, fraternal organizations and well-wishers, one stall for Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur within the valley, and separate stalls for the remaining five provinces. The Congress has 4,743 general convention representatives across the country.
Before the inauguration of the special general convention, the participants took out processions from six different places in Kathmandu. The special general convention was inaugurated by General Secretaries Thapa and Sharma at Bhrikutimandap. The closed session will be held at the assembly hall at Bhrikutimandap.
