Interpol has responded that it cannot issue a red notice against former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and former Foreign Minister Arju Rana Deuba, who are under investigation for money laundering.
Interpol has questioned the fact that no relevant crime has been found against the Deuba couple and that the investigation into money laundering has been initiated at the same time, saying that the necessary conditions for a red notice have not been met. At the request of the Money Laundering Investigation Department, the Kathmandu District Court had issued an arrest warrant against the Deuba couple on 24 Chaitra 2082. The department then requested Interpol through the police to proceed with the process of issuing a red notice, mentioning the arrest warrant and the crime under investigation. Although the Deuba couple is currently said to be in Hong Kong, formal details about this have not been officially made public by the government and Deuba's family.
Both of them, who were attacked at their residence during the Gen-G movement on 24 Bhadau, were rescued with the help of the army and taken to the hospital. Immediately after that, they went to Singapore for treatment. After returning from there, Deuba again went to Singapore from Tribhuvan Airport while Arju reached Singapore via India. While they were outside the country, the government had drawn them into the scope of the money laundering investigation.
