A writ petition has been filed in the Supreme Court on behalf of former minister Deepak Khadka and Lumbini Province MP Rekha Sharma.

Khadka's wife Binita Khadka and Sharma's wife Chintamani Sharma filed the writ petition on Tuesday.

Supreme Court spokesperson Arjun Kumar Koirala confirmed that the writ petition has been filed.

Khadka was arrested on Sunday in a money laundering case and Sharma was arrested on Sunday in a child labor exploitation case. Former minister Khadka was brought under investigation after money was found burnt in his house during the Bhadra 24 protest. The CIB, however, has been saying that he was arrested in connection with the investigation into money laundering, not the amount. The family filed a petition for custodial interrogation after the Kathmandu District Court decided to extend the time limit by seven days. After his house was burnt down during the Gen-G agitation, he was living in a prestige apartment in Dhumbarahi. The CIB arrested him from the same apartment. Deepak Khadka was elected as a member of the House of Representatives from Sankhuwasabha in 2079 BS. In 2080 BS, the then president of the Nepali Congress, Sher Bahadur Deuba, nominated Khadka as an invited central member. Before the Gen-G agitation, Khadka was also the Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation. During the agitation, Khadka's residence near Deuba's residence in Budhanilkantha, Kathmandu, was also set on fire.

A video showing money flying from his house during the arson went viral.

The Supreme Court said that both petitions were scheduled to be filed on Wednesday.
