In the recently concluded House of Representatives elections, the deposits of 30 candidates, including 3 former ministers, who were running for 2 constituencies in Bardiya, have been forfeited.
Former Minister of State for Commerce and Supplies Bishnu Prasad Chaudhary, former Minister for Drinking Water Abdul Khan, and former Minister for Physical Infrastructure Development of Lumbini Province Dharma Bahadur Chaudhary, were forfeited after they failed to secure even 10 percent of the valid votes cast.
The deposits of 18 candidates in Bardiya-1 and 11 candidates in Bardiya-2 were forfeited. A total of 12,489 votes were cast in Bardiya-1, of which 96,609 were valid. There were 21 candidates in this constituency. The Chief Electoral Officer's Office has stated that the deposits of candidates other than the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), UML, and Congress have been forfeited. Similarly, 5 candidates in Bardiya-1 could not secure even 100 votes.
A total of 92,618 votes were cast in Bardiya-2. Of which 88,130 votes were valid. Out of 15 candidates from this constituency, all the candidates except the candidates of RSVP, Congress, CPN and UML have had their deposits forfeited. Four candidates from Bardiya-2 could not even get 100 votes.
