Inspector General of Police Dan Bahadur Karki has said that the peaceful conduct of the House of Representatives member election has contributed significantly to the growth of the Nepal Police. He said that the election security management was successfully completed amidst challenges due to collective spirit and determination in organizational goals.
Stating that the role and contribution of the security personnel deployed in the election security is commendable, Inspector General Karki also said that the police effectively completed the election security management with high morale amidst limited resources/equipment. About 75,000 personnel and 133,090 election police were deployed from the Police Headquarters and subordinate units for election security. According to the Police Headquarters, not a single person was injured in this election and it was completed due to the prudent security management.
Addressing the officers and personnel of the offices and subordinate units within the valley deployed in the election security management on Monday, Inspector General Karki said, ‘Limited resources, Despite the lack of physical infrastructure and the concerns and aspirations expressed regarding the morale and capacity of police personnel, the high professionalism demonstrated by all police personnel with high morale, collective spirit and sense of responsibility to conduct the elections in a historically peaceful and orderly manner is commendable.
He expressed gratitude for the professional role played by all police personnel, focusing on their assigned responsibilities with dedication to the country despite the adverse circumstances.
He said that it was possible to maintain peace and security in the society due to the tireless activism and vigilance of the police. Stating that it is necessary for all police personnel to assimilate the changes, he also directed them to work with full dedication to the citizens by adopting more polite speech, words and conduct in accordance with the times, as well as being accountable to the people.
Karki also mentioned that policing is not only a profession but also a service and that this requires a sense of service, honesty, high professionalism, duty and firm discipline.
