Nobel Peace Prize winner and human rights activist Shirin Ebadi has said that the Gen Z movement in Nepal has caught her attention.
While delivering the keynote address at the Kantipur Conclave-2026, which began in Kathmandu today, Shirin recalled the Gen-G movement of last Bhadra 23-24 and suggested that those who have reached the age of 18 should vote in the upcoming elections. 'The elections are being held in the next 19 days due to the voice raised by the youth. I am happy about that. I would like to suggest to you that such a movement should not be held again,' she said, 'All those who have reached the age of 18. You should vote.'
She said that she had watched with great interest why and how the Gen-G movement happened in Nepal. 'I was happy with the movement for democracy,' she said, 'I would like to pay my heartfelt tribute to those who lost their lives in the movement.'
