It has been revealed that Attorney General Savita Bhandari wrote to suspend her membership immediately after Transparency International Nepal decided to suspend her as an ordinary member.

Transparency International Nepal President Madan Krishna Sharma said that he had written to Attorney General Bhandari to clarify the controversy surrounding him even before the meeting on November 17 decided to suspend him. After Attorney General Bhandari did not respond to the letter, the Transparency meeting decided to suspend him from the general membership .

Sharma said that they took action after a controversy arose regarding a person in an organization that promotes good governance, controls corruption, and advocates transparency. He said, "After being in such an organization, it is not clear who is where or what position he holds. The issue involving the Attorney General is also related to this."

He said that initially the organization asked for a response to clear its issue, but after receiving no response, the working committee met and suspended him from the general membership. Sharma says that Bhandari sent a letter to her not to keep her as a member only after the suspension decision.

Attorney General Bhandari was embroiled in controversy after she decided not to prosecute a private company, Hope Fertility and Diagnostics Pvt. Ltd., accused of selling a teenager's eggs. The decision to suspend her was made after Transparency International made a controversial decision in Hope's case and the Supreme Court issued a show cause order in the case against her.
