As Tihar approached, Bipin Joshi's sister Pushpa's only request was, "Please bring my brother home on Tihar, I will give him a brother's tika." She spent two Tihars searching for her brother. Tihar has already begun. But this time too, Pushpa's brother Bipin did not come. Bipin, who lost his life while being held hostage by the Palestinian militant group Hamas, reached his home in a coffin two years later on the day of Lakshmi Puja on Tihar.

On Monday evening, when the body arrived at the house in a coffin in a hearse from Dhangadhi Sub-metropolitan City, everyone started crying. It was difficult to hold father Mahanand, mother Padma and sister Pushpa. Everyone, from relatives who reached the house, had tears in their eyes.

When the coffin was taken out of the hearse and placed in the courtyard, father Mahanand hung himself in it. He started crying while calling out Bipin's name. At that time, tears started flowing from everyone's eyes. Then the coffin was opened and the body was shown to him. Mother Padma is crying and fainting. Sister Pushpa is also in a similar condition.

'The family had been waiting for Bipin for two years, now the body has arrived at the house, that too during Tihar,' say the locals of Bichpuri, 'Not only the family, but the entire village is in mourning, let no one else go through this.'

Mother Padma and sister Pushpa had reached America to urge for necessary initiatives for Bipin's release. They had gone to America on Asoj 8 and returned home only last Thursday. They had met the Secretary-General of the United Nations and other officials. Before that, they had also reached Israel in the last week of Shrawan. They had met the President of Israel and the Prime Minister of Israel along with participating in the rally organized for Bipin's release in Israel.

In Nepal too, the Joshi family has repeatedly met the President and the Prime Minister and urged them to take necessary initiatives. But the only answer they got every time was, 'We are taking initiatives.' But relatives say that the current situation has arisen because of the lack of meaningful initiatives from Nepal.

The residents of the village say that they do not even perform Lakshmi Puja. 'Today the village is in mourning, how can we celebrate Tihar in this situation?' Local Ravi Chand said, 'Even those who lit lamps yesterday have extinguished them today.' He said that such a tragic incident in the village has made everyone sad. After Bipin's body reached the house, Israeli Ambassador to Nepal Smulik Arai Bas reached the house along with embassy staff. He met the family members. 49 students from the Faculty of Agriculture of Sudurpaschim University had reached Israel two years ago under the 'Learn and Earn' program. They were attacked by Hamas less than a month after reaching Israel. Ten students were killed in the Hamas attack, and Bipin was taken hostage. It was confirmed on Monday that Bipin died while being held hostage. The body was handed over on Monday after a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.
