Claim of Narayangadh-Butwal road plan: There will be no problems like in the past, there is no problem in other sections except Downe, work is being done so that there will be no problem.
What you should know
There are not many days left for Dasain. However, the work of Narayangadh-Butwal road, which was started 7 years ago, has not been completed yet. Since its expansion, 6 Dasain-Tihar have been completed, but the work is still not finished. There is more traffic on this section of the road during the festival than before. As a result, passengers have no choice but to go home during the festival.
If so, passengers going home during the upcoming festival should suffer this time or not? In response to the question, Chudaraj Dhakal, project director of the Directorate of Projects (ADB), says, "There will not be any trouble like in the past, there is no problem in any other section except for the lower section, and work is being done to ensure that there is no problem."
According to the contract agreement in March 2075, the work should have been completed by July 2079. However, due to the lack of construction materials and covid-19, the deadline was extended for the first time until July 11, 2080, but the work was not completed within that time. The deadline was extended for the second time until July 8, 2081, the work was not completed.
The deadline was extended for the third time until July 8, 2082, but the work remained. When the construction progress reached 71 percent in 7 years, the deadline was extended for the fourth time till June 24, 2008. If so, can the work be done during the fourth addition? In response to the question, Chief Dhakal says - it can be done, now the problem is only in the 9 km of the slope, the slope work is being done, the black sheet work will start soon after the monsoon.
The road with a distance of 113 km has been divided into two sections. The contract was awarded to China State Construction Engineering Corporation. By dividing it into two parts, the contract amount is 16 billion 99 million 52 lakh 96 thousand rupees. According to the project, out of 113 km, 104 km has been paved. Similarly, Chief Dhakal said that 80 km has been blacked out in both directions.
'Now only the 9 km section remains to be paved and sloped,' he said, 'now slope work is being done in Daunne, there is some problem due to rain, it will be easy in this section after Dasain.'
The project said that during the festival, the machine will be placed on the road to make traffic easier. About 10 to 15 thousand vehicles pass through this section daily. "This number is more during festivals," he said.
