National Independent Party MP Sobita Gautam has said that the work of the Election Commission is not to evaluate political parties. Gautam also says that the Election Commission has tried to trample the constitution and laws by introducing the political party self-evaluation procedure.

After attending a meeting of political parties other than Congress and UML called by the leader of the main opposition party and Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Wednesday, MP Gautam said that the Election Commission is conspiring to trouble new and small parties.

Gautam said that the Election Commission is going to violate the constitution and laws by trying to control other than two political parties in the name of self-evaluation procedure. It seems that the Election Commission is trying to control the parties under the guise of the Political Party Self-Assessment Procedure, 2082. Provisions to control political parties have been placed in the procedure . "Do a self-evaluation, but in the procedure, there is a provision for the staff to evaluate the party," she said.

Gautam said that by abusing the delegated authority given by the Political Party Act, the Election Commission is trying to control the new and small and opposition parties at the behest of the ruling parties. It was seen that the Election Commission is going to pose a challenge by strengthening the ruling parties, keeping the opposition, new and other parties under control and creating difficulties. The Constitution has given the people the right to evaluate political parties, not the Election Commission,' she said. The Election Commission has no right to evaluate the parties by trampling on the rights of the people.'

Political parties other than the ruling Congress and UML will form a common opinion regarding the procedures put forward by the Election Commission, Gautam said. She also said that the Parliament should monitor the Election Commission regarding the misuse of the powers given by the Procedure Act.

In the procedures put forward by the Election Commission, the work, duties and powers from the evaluation of the parties to the operation have been assigned to the committee with the secretary coordinator of the Election Commission . In the procedure, it is said about the tasks, duties and rights of the committee, 'to evaluate, operate, monitor and guide the political party, to conduct or conduct an investigation regarding whether the party has/has not done its self-evaluation in accordance with this procedure.'

Similarly, the said committee has been given the authority to recommend to the concerned commissioner with its opinion if any decision has to be taken regarding any party based on the investigation. It is said that if any party requests assistance in relation to the evaluation, it will provide necessary assistance. It is the duty of the said committee to investigate the complaints and complaints related to the assessment.
