Immigration officials have said that they are preparing to remove the criteria for visiting visas. During the discussion and review program held on Sunday regarding the work plan and ongoing operations of the Immigration Department, the officials said that the time has come to improve the immigration administration.

program, Director General of Immigration Department Ramchandra Tiwari informed that the department will soon take the necessary decision regarding the removal of visit visa criteria.

'If someone wants to go abroad with a passport with a specified period of validity and a visa issued by the relevant country, there is no reason for us to stop them at the airport,' he said, 'it seems that the target criteria for the visit visa issued in the past with various points should be removed, the department will take a necessary decision on this soon.' He also clarified that it is not necessary to keep the 'Patke criteria' introduced in the past for going abroad on a visit visa. 

The then Home Minister Balkrishna Khan said in February 2078 that in order to go on a visit visa, one should have an annual taxable income of 5 lakh rupees, half of that amount should be in the bank, should have visited the Gulf twice and once in other countries, should have passed class 12, should know how to speak English, should be sponsored by someone from abroad or invited by a relative, or if there is a document to prove the relationship. They issued 17-point criteria including arrangements with the condition that the sponsor's details should also be mentioned. Based on this, from the immigration officials to the middlemen, they took illegal benefits.

By removing these two criteria, immigration is about to introduce a loose policy so that those with valid visas and passports can go abroad. The department will soon take the necessary decision about removing the target criteria for visit visa: After the Ministry of Home Affairs issued the criteria for visiting various countries in Europe, Asia and Africa with 'strict provisions', there is a demand to cancel it. The gang used to collect up to three lakh rupees from people who wanted to go to Europe on a visit visa and between 30,000 to 50,000 rupees for other countries. According to the immigration records, 400 people go abroad on visit visa every day from Tribhuvan International Airport.

Nepal Police launched a special operation at the airport immigration in December 2080 after smuggling in the name of visit visa. During that time, according to the gang's plan, the police seized the passports of 66 people who were going to be sent on visit visas from a travel agency. 

Immigration officers Narveer Khadka, Tara Bahadur Kunwar, Kushal Baral, Shailendra Dhakal, Bimal Paudel, Vishnu Aryal, Vikas Dangol, Pitambar Rimal and Sujan Fago were prosecuted in District Court Kathmandu. Director General Tiwari said that it is also necessary to make a national policy on foreign employment or visit visa in the

program. On the one hand, we are proud of the fact that the remittances sent by those who go abroad for foreign employment or other means have increased, on the other hand, how did the people who sent the remittances go? Why did you go? We treat the issue of going with or without a work permit as a 'crime', there is no consensus on this," he said, "Instead, the government process for going abroad should be simplified, no one paid attention to it."
