1 year of the government: Opposition party alleges that the government has failed in building good governance and development

Opposition parties have accused the Congress-UML coalition government of failing to maintain good governance, prevent corruption and promote development. Although a strong government was formed in the coalition of two big parties, the parties said that the work done in one year was only average.

In the meantime, the Civil Liberties Party has decided to withdraw its support, expressing dissatisfaction with the government's performance. The central working committee of Jaspa Nepal has decided to reconsider the support given to the government.

During the period of one year, the chairman of the main opposition party, Maoist, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, repeatedly threatened that the government would collapse soon. Especially regarding the lack of agreement between the Congress and the UML on the appointment of the Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, Dahal had expressed that the government would collapse.

After that, Dahal has stopped claiming that the government will fall. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has rejected the claim that the government will collapse and has been saying that the alliance will go until the elections. In the Congress Central Committee meeting that ended on Monday, Chairman Sher Bahadur Deuba also said that the coalition government will last for the entire period.

From the day Congress-UML alliance was formed, Maoist Chairman Dahal has been claiming that a government of "intermediaries" has been formed.

When I was taking the vote of confidence for the last time, I said that this government was born in an unnatural way. Since this government is being formed in a non-transparent manner and contrary to the spirit of the constitution, what it will do in the coming days is misgovernance, not good governance," Dahal said in an interview to Kantipur, "It will protect the corrupt and brokers. Not to national capital development. The government had to protect its people no matter how wrong they were, and to persecute their critics, no matter how good they were when they got close to the opposition. It worked to cut the programs and plans that were in the interest of the nation, and to please the brokers and middlemen.

Maoists have taken the appointment of officials in the Transitional Justice Law Making, Truth and Reconciliation Commission as a positive work of the government. The United Samajwadi Party has claimed that the case filed against its president Madhav Kumar Nepal in the Patanjali land case is 'political revenge'.

As the opposition has been accusing the government, they have failed to warn and put pressure. An example of this is the two points that the Maoists made with the ruling party on the 30th of June regarding the visit visa issue. The Maoists, along with other opposition parties, had blocked the parliament demanding the resignation of Home Minister Ramesh Akhtar regarding the misappropriation of large sums of money in the case of visit visas. Meanwhile, there was a sudden agreement with the ruling party, which was opposed within the Maoists.

Currently, an investigation committee has been formed under the coordination of former Chief Secretary Shankardas Bairagi in the case of visit visa. However, in the case of visit visa, the other opposition party RSVP continues to protest in the parliament. RPP is also involved in this. They have been demanding the formation of a high-level inquiry committee on the visit visa case.

Maoist General Secretary Dev Gurung claimed that this government has failed from all angles. Good governance is not maintained, corruption has been promoted, rule of law has been undermined. It has weakened the constitutional organs including the independent judiciary," he said. "The life of the common man has become more difficult. The financial crisis is escalating. A crisis has arisen in the industrial sector, due to which capital and manpower are migrating.

He alleged that the government has not been able to maintain a balanced relationship with the two neighboring countries. "Foreign relations are deteriorating in a balanced manner,"

He added, "Relations with the neighbors have not been improved." Referring to the weakness of the government in the manipulation of the royalists during one year, Gurung claimed that the Maoists had put pressure to strengthen the political system. The opposition will put pressure within the system. To raise the issue in the parliament. If the House is blocked continuously, the system may fail," he said. "The government intends to make the system fail. We are raising our voices to protect the system.

Maoist Deputy Secretary General Varshman Pun said that the coalition government failed in its commitment. "Constitution amendment was called, there was not even a general discussion. Good governance has been talked about, there has been more corruption, the influence of middlemen has increased. "Political stability has been called, there has been an increase in protest and dissatisfaction," he said, "Recently, dissatisfaction has increased at the public level. Looking at the development of the economy as a whole, some interest groups have prospered. There has been no improvement in the services that the people get from the government.

RSVP chief whip Santosh Pariyar accused the government of failing to make a long-term policy for the welfare of the country. "The government is not paying much attention to making the necessary laws to strengthen the federal democratic system," he said. This will not bode well for democracy and the people in the future. It will have a long-term effect on the governance system of the country. Pariyar said that it has been seen in this one year that the government has not done a good job. "Government alone is not stability. After a strong government, it should have come up with policies and programs accordingly,' he said, 'This is what a one-year government can say, right?' The government, which was seen as strong in terms of arithmetic, was seen as weak in terms of performance. There is no hope, despair is increasing," he said. "The government has interfered with the constitutional organs and other bodies and destroyed the state system." He says that the government is responsible for using coercion amid protests by the RPPA and the RASWP in the Parliament regarding the visit visa case. "We have realized that this government is heading towards autocracy," he said.
