A corruption case has also been filed against Basudev Thapa, mayor of Bhaktapur's Suryavinayak Municipality in the Patanjali land embezzlement case. Mayor Thapa is also a defendant in the corruption case filed by the Abuse of Authority Investigation Commission on Thursday with 93 people including former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal as defendants.
As Thapa illegally bought and sold the demarcated land from Patanjali, then Thapa also bought the land. Thapa was elected from UML in Bhaktapur Suryavinayak Municipality in the local elections of 2074 and 2079.
Thapa, who is currently a land owner, has given a statement that he has sold the land of No. 552 of Sanga Ga. V. S. Ward No. 4 (B) with Dillidhwaj Baraili for 13 million 66 thousand.
'The name mentioned in Jaggadhani Shresta is Basudev Thapa. Dolakha District Jugun currently resides in Suryavinayak N.P. He gave a statement to the authority in October 2081 that he bought 10 months ago from Delhi Dhwaja Baraili for 10 million 366 thousand, it is not in use, nor has it been sold to anyone.

Mayor Thapa and 28 individuals and 2 companies have been made defendants for land confiscation purposes. The remaining 63 people are the defendants with the demand for bail, imprisonment and fine.
