The court has given 12 days to the police to investigate Durga Prasai, a businessman who was arrested on the charge of inciting violence during the protest of the royalist group on 15th of Chait.
Information officer Deepak Kumar Shrestha said that on Friday, the bench of Judge Shishirraj Dhakal of District Court Kathmandu gave a 12-day deadline to investigate Prasai for crimes against the state.
Similarly, the deadline of 12 days has been extended against his bodyguard Deepak Khadka, who was arrested along with Prasai. According to Information Officer Shrestha, the court has ordered the police to arrange treatment in consultation with a doctor because Prasai is a cancer patient.
As he was absconding after inciting violence in the name of 15th Chait demonstration, the Special Bureau of Police arrested him in India on Thursday and brought him to Bhadrapur this morning. Then he was brought to Kathmandu by ship.
A joint public movement committee was formed for the restoration of the royal institution under the leadership of RPP leader Navraj Subedi, the former president of Rashtriya Panchayat, on March 4, led by businessman Prasai. Subedi also announced Prasai as the commander of the Jan Andolan Committee.
On 15th of Chait, after Prasain raised the pot, the demonstration of the royalists became violent . During the demonstration, 2 people died including a journalist. Besides, dozens of vehicles were set on fire and personal and government properties were also set on fire.
