The issue of dismissal of the Executive Director of Nepal Electricity Authority, Kulman Ghising, has been discussed in both houses of the Federal Parliament. The opposition parties have obstructed the House by saying that they will not allow the House to proceed until the Prime Minister gives a clear answer about Kulman-dismissal.
After continuous disruption, the meeting of the House of Representatives has been adjourned until 11 am on Thursday. The meeting was initially adjourned for half an hour after opposition parties disrupted the meeting.
As the meeting could not start at that time, Padma Prasad Pandey, Secretary General of the Federal Parliament issued a notice and informed that the meeting has been postponed until 3 o'clock. The opposition parties blocked the meeting of the House of Representatives demanding the Prime Minister's answer. The meeting called for 11 am on Wednesday morning was delayed and the opposition parties rose up and protested at the beginning.
After that, Speaker Devraj Ghimire gave CPN (Maoist Center) MP Shakti Bahadur Basnet time to speak. MP Basnet said that the government was oblivious to the changing situation and in favor of interest groups and middlemen removed the executive director of Nepal Electricity Authority.
Speaker Ghimire asked the MPs to create an atmosphere for the assembly after the opposition parties continuously obstructed it. He also said that there is no atmosphere of ruling.
Speaker Ghimire informed the MPs that the assembly cannot be conducted unless they cooperate in a lawful manner. He said that attention has been drawn to the demands. Although Speaker Ghimire asked to create an atmosphere for the meeting by taking the seat time and again, the opposition party continued to obstruct.
