Concerned parties have raised the voice that Nepali workers who have gone for foreign employment have to be deprived of their rights due to the failure of the government to effectively implement the labor agreement. They have emphasized that the services to be provided by the embassy should be made easy and transparent.
On the first session of the second day of the labor and employment conference organized by the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security, the speakers said that the provisions mentioned in the labor agreement between the two countries should be legally implemented in the first session of 'Various Aspects of Labor Migration'.
Sharmila Parajuli Dhakal, the former ambassador to Oman and Spain, said that a strong labor contract would ensure workers' rights. She said, "We need to take initiatives to get higher salaries from the destination countries." The Nepali Embassy cannot live with low resources and resources, we should try to do maximum work with the limited resources and resources.
First Vice President of Nepal Foreign Employment Professionals Federation, Dik Bahadur Khatri, said that fraud on workers can be prevented with transparent costs and practical service charges. He said that due to the lack of amendment to the system for verifying the demand letter from the embassy, sending workers to the new destination country has been stopped due to institutional reasons. He said, ``One billion 66 million were personally cheated last year alone. This is the result of the demand letter being stopped. It has increased non-commercial non-legal affiliations. In addition to the use of visit visas and third countries, uncontrolled economic activities have increased. The certification of the demand letter should be revised.
Ayushman Bhagat, a professor at Brunel University, UK, said that a labor contract is necessary to send domestic workers to an institutional setting. The Nepali Embassy does not know how many domestic workers are working in which country now. They need to be listed. Brokers are active in sending domestic workers. It is still not going institutionally," he said. "The labor agreement is a legal document. There should be a labor contract with provisions to control human trafficking. The safety provisions should be clearly laid down in it.'
Sita Lama, women coordinator of United Trade Union Coordination Center (JTUC), said that banning domestic women will not solve the problem. "Domestic workers should be opened with a guarantee of safety," she said. Minimum wages for workers are very low. It is necessary to increase it.'
