Transport services are still blocked in 30 sections of 11 of the roads that were damaged by the floods a week ago. One-way vehicles are plying at 420 places. Although the government is trying to open the blocked roads, there is no possibility that most of the sections will be operational before Dasain.

Traffic has increased on the surrounding roads after the current roads were blocked due to the flood. After the Dhulikhel-Nepalthok section of the BP highway was washed away by flood, the traffic on Chandragiri-Chitlang-Kunchal-Hetaunda, Naubise-Palung-Hetaunda and Nagadhunga-Muglin roads has increased. Commuters to and from the federal capital are using this road as an alternative. With the beginning of Dasain, the number of vehicles leaving the valley is increasing. As the BP highway cannot be opened immediately, it is seen that the passengers have to suffer even on Dasain. 

Last week's floods swept away about 12 km of the BP highway. Keshav Kumar Sharma, Secretary of the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, says that work is being done to open the road by diverting vehicles stuck on the BP highway, but the road will not be ready by Dasain. "There is a little hope that the road will be opened if the work can be done on Phoolpati and Ashtami as well," he said. Sharma said that it would be suitable to use the road passing through Hetaunda, Dolakha, Chitwan instead of the BP highway. 

Secretary Sharma said that efforts are being made to open the Kanti Lokpath passing through Tikabhairav ​​in Lalitpur for passengers entering and exiting the capital. "The work of removing the landslide from Hetounda has been done, since the access road connecting Bagmati from Lalitpur has been washed away, it will take two more days to build it," he said. According to Sharma, the Hetaunda-Bhimfedi-Kulekhani Fakhel-Pharping road is also being opened in coordination with Wagmati Province. He claims that the road will be opened by Sunday. 

Big vehicles passing through BP highway are going to Nagadhunga-Muglin and Sumo, micro buses are leaving Hetounda via Chandragiri-Chitlang-Kunchal and Naubise-Palung roads. Nagadhunga-Muglin is highly congested as vehicles going south-west pass through Pokhara and Chitwan. The traffic police is having difficulty in managing the traffic. "More than 20,000 vehicles pass through this road every day," said Keshav Prasad Ojha, head of Nagadhunga-Muglin Road Planning Office, Eastern Section, "Due to high traffic volume, there is little problem of traffic jams in some sections." 

According to Ojha, there is a risk of landslides in Furke Khola, Jhyaple Khola, 13 km, Charkilo, mouth of Nagadhunga tunnel, Khatripauwa under Nagadhunga-Malekhu section. Some roads have washed away in the Mahesh river under Nagadhunga-Malekhu section. At Krishnabhir, around 50 meters of the road has been washed away, so one-way traffic is being conducted. Kedar Prasad Nepal, head of Nagadhunga-Muglin road project west section, said that there will be no two-way traffic on this section during Dasain. In the section from Malekhu to Muglin, landslide risk is high in Ratmate, near Sheetal Bazar, Malinga, near Vishal Bazar, Jamireghat, Jawang Khola, Mauwa Khola and Ghoptevir. There is also a risk of vehicle slipping due to unpaved roads in some places. According to the road department, there is no problem if you go to Pokhara via Narayangadh and Ambukhaireni through Muglin and avoid the traffic jam. 

The Bhimfedi-Kulekhani-Sisneri-Pharping road connecting Hetaunda to Kathmandu has also been blocked for a week. About 7 km road from Dodare to Kulekhani dam has been washed away due to flood and traffic has come to a standstill. The southern section under the Narayangadh-Butwal road section was flooded again on Friday evening. Traffic has been completely blocked after the road near Khursani river at Bardghat-4 in West Nawalparasi has been washed away. According to DSP Resham Bohra of District Police West Nawalparasi, the road, about 20 feet long and 5 feet wide, is being repaired after being washed away. Earlier on October 14, the road was washed away in Khursani Khola area. In this area, there is a problem to make a diversion immediately because there are hills on one side and hills on the other side. After the road was washed away in Downe, vehicles are being stopped at Bardghat on the west side and Dumkibas on the east side and the road is being repaired. 

After the flood swept away the BP highway and Khurkot bridge, the traffic pressure has also increased on Pushpalal (Madhyapahari) highway and Lamosanghu-Jiri road. According to Thakur Prasad Bhatrai, head of District Traffic Office, Dolakha, 700 vehicles used this route on Thursday, while more than 1,000 vehicles used it on Friday. "Jeeps from some parts of Khotang and Bhojpur have also started passing through this road," he said. Tourists going to Lukla from Manthali Airport are also using this route. Some tourists have used the Solu-Salleri road via Lamosanghu-Jiri. 

DSP Yuvraj Khadka of District Police Dolakha said that after the increase in traffic on the Madhyapahari and Lamosanghu-Jiri roads, preparations have been made to set up 'help desks' at various places for checking the vehicles and for the convenience of passengers. According to him, "Help Desk" has already been established in Satdobato, Jiri and Singti in the northern region of Charikot. BP highway is operational from Bardibas to near Moolkot in Sindhuli. Vehicles carrying passengers returning home on Dasain are passing through Sitkha's motorable bridge connecting Ramechhap and Sindhuli near Moolkot, then Khandadevi rural municipality Manthali, Madhyapahari highway via Dolakha's Charikot via Araniko highway.

Narayangadh-Butwal section extension work has not been completed even after 6 years, passengers have been suffering. More than 20,000 vehicles pass through this section daily. Chudaraj Dhakal, project head of the Directorate of Projects (ADB) under the Roads Department, said that efforts are being made to ease the traffic by filling the potholes by Tuesday. 

In Halesi Tuwachung Municipality area of ​​Khotang, passengers are stranded as the blocked Madhyapahari public road cannot be opened. The municipality is trying to open the road blocked by last Thursday's landslide. According to Halesi Tuwachung municipality spokesperson Kamal Giri, the landslide under Gorumare in the Kaduwa area of ​​Bahunidanda has been removed, but the road has not been opened because the landslide above Dautekhola below it could not be removed. 

Various sections of Mechi, Bhedetar-Ravi-Rankeh, Tamor Corridor, Gaighat-Mahure-Kharpa-Solu, Araniko, Trishuli-Vetravati-Mailung-Safrabensi-Rasuwagadhi, Burtibang-Dhorpatan roads are also blocked after the flood. According to the Transport Management Department, the passenger buses departing from Kathmandu during the festival have been coordinated so that they can reach their destinations safely and in the light of day. Due to the increase in the number of vehicles leaving the valley, trailers and large vehicles, except those transporting food and other essential goods, have been banned from Ghatasthapana till November 1 through Narayangadh.

According to the road department, two-way transport services are in operation at 358 locations. At 30 places, traffic is stopped till Friday evening. Although the details of the damage are still being collected, according to preliminary estimates, it is estimated that it will cost around three and a half billion rupees just to start the temporary traffic on the roads and bridges. It is estimated that it will cost 20 to 25 billion rupees to permanently restore all the damaged structures.
