It was raining continuously on Saturday. As disaster was happening all over the district, it was urgent to get rescue information from the police. An unconfirmed report that a house had been buried by a landslide in Bhimeshwar Municipality-6 Maidane came to the police at 1:40 p.m. Police inspector Satrudhan Mahato reached the scene within 10 minutes of receiving the information.
Ramkumar Bhujel's house in Maidan was completely buried in the landslide. It was not known how many people were in the house.
Landslides were falling from above due to continuous rain . The sound of a child crying was heard from the buried house. By that time, 2/4 of the locals had also gathered. When everyone started digging from all sides, the police inspector Mahato stopped digging and found the foundation of the house crushed by trees and landslides.
He tried to take out the minors who were crushed by the landslide by removing the trees. But due to the landslide, it was very difficult for him to get the child out safely.
'The house was completely crushed by the landslide, the risk was increased due to the fall of the tree,' he said, 'Immediately he tried to pull the child from the fallen place, his mother was holding the child with her hands.' He said that he was crying.
He said that if there was a similar mistake, he pulled the child out of the tree with one hand from a situation where the child would also die. 'If the rescue was delayed for some time, the situation would have been different,' he said, 'as soon as the child was taken out of the landslide, there was a crowd of people taking pictures, and I told the security personnel to take him to the hospital immediately.' He said that Roshan and his wife Radha could not be saved. He said that 16-year-old Roshan was rescued from the landslide by the security personnel and taken to the hospital, but he died before reaching the hospital.
After rescuing a 2-year-old boy alive, the Bhimeshwar municipality will bear his nutrition and study expenses up to class 12. Deputy Superintendent of Police Yuvraj Khadka said that the boy who lost his family was taken care of by Pramila Bhujel.
'We have entrusted the child to the relatives of the family,' he said, 'even though the child was rescued on time, it is sad that the family could not be saved from the landslide.' Photo: District Police Office Dolakha
