Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that Nepal has a clear belief that countries that emit carbon must compensate countries that do not emit carbon.
Leading the Nepalese delegation Prime Minister Oli, who arrived in New York in the United States while participating in the 79th General Assembly of the United Nations, attended the Parliamentary Network for Fossil Fuel Free (Parliamentarians for Fossil Fuel Free) held on Saturday afternoon local time. He said this during his address as the main speaker in the program.
Prime Minister Oli mentioned that Nepal has helped prevent the effects of climate change by making zero contribution to carbon emissions, and stressed that compensation should be given to the affected communities as Nepal's Everest and mountains have started to melt due to the carbon emissions of developed countries. Prime Minister Oli emphasized that the developed countries of the world established according to the Paris Agreement should increase their financial investment for climate adaptation for the future and said, 'Our future is beautiful, because we are investing for the future.'
Prime Minister Oli's visiting party includes First Lady Radhika Shakya, Foreign Minister Arju Rana Deuba, Prime Minister's Chief Advisor Bishnu Prasad Rimal, Foreign Ministry Secretary Seva Lamsal, Prime Minister Oli's personal physician Dr. Divya Singh, Principal Private Secretary Rajesh Bajracharya, Foreign Ministry Joint Secretary Amrit Kumar Rai, Etiquette Mahapal Bishnu Prasad Gautam and others are involved.
