Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that Nepal's door is open for regional electricity trade. While taking the vote of confidence from the House of Representatives today, Prime Minister Dahal said that the construction of transmission lines for international electricity trade has progressed rapidly.
The achievement of the government in the energy sector is tempting. During my second term as Prime Minister, the country got rid of the terrible load shedding. At that time, something that no one thought was possible,' said Prime Minister Dahal.
Prime Minister Dahal has also said that 500 megawatts of electricity will be added within a few months. 'Now there are no citizens left without access to electricity. The installed capacity of electric power has reached about 3200 megawatts and it is in the process of adding about 500 megawatts in a few months. Keeping the private sector's participation in hydropower as a top priority, power purchase agreements have been signed with around 10,000 MW projects so far,' he said.
According to Prime Minister Dahal, Nepal has reached the point where electricity generation capacity will increase by around 1000 megawatts every year. Prime Minister Dahal informed that preparations for the construction of large reservoir and semi-reservoir projects have been completed by government agencies.
