Madhesh Chief Minister Krishna Prasad Yadav has accused the federal government of not allowing him to use his own resources. He made this claim at the Kantipur Conclave 2026 organized by the Kantipur Media Group on Tuesday.
Chief Minister Yadav said that the lowest budget among the seven provinces has been allocated to Madhesh. ‘The federal government allocates 6 percent of the budget by combining the seven provinces. Out of that, the lowest equalization budget of Rs 12 billion has been allocated to Madhesh,’ he said.
He said that development expenditure in Madhesh has been reduced this year due to the Gen-G movement and government changes. He informed that the situation of change in Madhesh province is not based on the wishes of any individual or party but on the basis of the needs of all parties.
Chief Minister Yadav said that the people of Madhesh were able to feel the state only after the implementation of federalism. ‘Madhesh needs federalism. The oppressed Madhesis, Janajati, Adivasi and Dalits of Madhesh have realized that we too have a government and a state after federalism,’ he said.
Chief Minister Yadav informed that there are many acts in the ground of the demand of political parties on whether federalism is needed or not. ‘Political parties are divided over federalism. Some parties say federalism is inevitable, while others say that it should be abolished, even though they cannot speak out against it, he said. "There are also parties that publicly state that federalism is not needed, and many laws, including the Police Act, have been included in their agenda." Chief Minister Yadav said that it is a great injustice that the federal government is looking at the province with a total population of 6.5 million with a cold eye. He said that the province has not been able to provide adequate services even on the basis of population. He also informed that when the federal government sends the Chief Minister's Secretary or Secretary, they send the province only for action.
