Ravi Lamichhane, Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission, has expressed three main complaints with the team of the National Human Rights Commission that has come to inspect the conditions of prisons and prisoners.
Commission Commissioner Lily Thapa, Commissioner Lumbini Office Chief Hari Gyawali, INSECC representative Rima BC inspected the prison on Monday. They also had a conversation with Lamichhane who was in prison.
Lamichhane is in block number 4 of the prison . During the conversation, Lamichhane said that although the accommodation and food arrangements were good, he could not walk in clean air for 100 days. Thapa said that the reason for not transferring Lamichhane to the place has attracted the serious attention of the commission. After going to Kathmandu, Thapa promised to reach the prison management department and discuss about it.
Lamichhane block windows are covered with plywood . According to Commissioner Thapa, the plywood of those windows should be removed and an air-permeable environment should be created. She informed that the jail chief Suresh Bhandari would remove the plywood from the window after drawing his attention.
Moreover, Lamichhane said that he was not comfortable meeting people, well-wishers and activists who came to see him for the legal process . Lamichhane complained that he could not read the daily newspapers regularly in the prison.
