Due to the flood, 25 people who were trapped in the Sri Lanka Island located in Ward No. 6 and 9 of Barahkshetra Municipality of Sunsari have been rescued.

Barah Kshetra-6 Thakurwari's Koshi beach island was home to buffaloes and was stranded since Friday due to the flood in the Saptakoshi river. Ramesh Karki, head of Barahkshetra Municipality informed that 25 stranded people were rescued by boat today with the help of police.

Even though the police were mobilized for their rescue from Saturday morning, due to continuous rains, immediate rescue was not possible, and the team including Chief Minister of Koshi Province Hikmat Kumar Karki and Chief District Officer of Sunsari, Ramchandra Tiwari, coordinated with the federal government to rescue them by helicopter. Mayor Karki said that they could not be rescued on Saturday due to adverse weather. 

Mayor Karki said, 'They were stranded in Thakurwari area of ​​Sri Lankan island after the water level in Koshi river rose and flooded from Friday.' He informed that 25 people were safely rescued by boat with the help of Nepal Army, Nepal Police and locals in the morning as the flow of water in Koshi decreased.
