It was not possible to eat without suffering. After moving to Chitwan, I spent two years tending buffaloes, helping Baama in the morning and evening in farming. I finally got admission in school in 2021.
What you should know
There are two types of human death - lighter than a feather and lighter than a mountain. The death of those who take great aim is lower than a mountain. During the 10-year people's war, those who were martyred for the great cause, died an easy death. Those martyrs are the ones who influence me the most.
A year after the outbreak of the People's War, I remember the incident when I visited Rolpa, Rukum and Jajarkot. Disciplinary action was taken against Ram Bahadur Thapa recently. I was very excited. Vijay Ghale of Rukum was martyred while going to take action at the police station in the same Serofero. I became very emotional when I met his parents. We used to laugh when the front was won in the people's war, we used to cry when we lost and when the warrior was martyred. There was a state of crying while laughing and laughing while crying. Thousands of warriors died during the People's War.
Ramvriksha Yadav was killed before starting the public war. He was a very good friend. There is respect for Gorkha's martyr Suresh Wagle, the first martyr Dil Bahadur Ramtel. Some of the warriors who loved and respected me a lot were martyred, some are missing. Those who became martyrs for the country and the people, even if they die, they will always be alive.
During the period of active monarchy or monarchy in Nepal, there was injustice, oppression and oppression on the oppressed classes including poor farmers, women, Dalits, Madheshi, tribal tribes, Tharu, Muslims. There was no choice but to rebel against it. As the party leader, I took a risk when the people came to the conclusion that there is no end to autocracy unless they once showed their strength. The people's war was started because the society cannot be transformed without bold decisions, justice cannot be given to all the oppressed and victims without rebellion.

In 2051, a civil war was being prepared. I became the general secretary of CPN Ekta Center from the convention held in Madi, Chitwan. Then we moved to Narayanghat and then to Kathmandu with our children. Mrs. Sita always supported me - not only in family but also in the political field. After we moved to Kathmandu, my elder daughter Gyanu, my younger daughter Ganga started studying in government school in Patan. Studied there till SLC. After the outbreak of the People's War, their studies could not continue.
Though Mrs. Sita did not have a lot of theoretical knowledge, she was determined to have a revolution from her heart. Another thing, his trust in me was beyond words. She thought that 'my husband plays a major role in the transformation of Nepal'. So in many crises, Sita used to say, 'You have the ability to find a solution. Never give up. Family, society and people are with us.' Now he is gone (Sita passed away in June 2080) but his belief keeps coming to mind. She never backs down to support you in happiness and sorrow.
Patience and loyalty were strong in Sita. After the civil war started, my daughter Renu was studying with her aunt. Later, Ganga and Renu got married at a hotel in Lucknow. Son Prakash initially studied in Kathmandu. Later Renuka stayed at TB Pathak's father-in-law's residence in Delhi. Rather than reading, Prakash became interested in war and later participated in the People's War. In the face of the election of November 2074, the light also went away.
I was born in a low class farmer family in Dhikurpokhari, Kaski. I grazed goats for seven years. When returning home, I used to bring firewood. My uncles introduced me to Akshar at home. Learned to write in cursive.
We migrated to Chitwan in 2019. It was only one thousand two hundred rupees brought from Kaski as ancestral property. The house of our father and elder father (father of present National Assembly Speaker Narayan Dahal) was nearby. Big daddy had a little more money than us.
He has to keep his brother (our family) together too. He gave our father 1000 or 1500 sapti and we bought two and a half bigha land. Big father had also bought the same amount of land. At that time, one bigha of land was sold in Chitwan for one thousand rupees. We stayed in a village called Bhimsennagar in Shivnagar. We still live there. At that time it was not possible to eat without suffering. After moving to Chitwan, I spent two years tending buffaloes, helping Baama in the morning and evening in farming. I finally got admission in school in 2021.
He was a village teacher at school. On the day I went to school, I was made to read a book called 'Our Literature'. I actually read that book. Headmaster Bodhraj Bhandari was happy. He was admitted to 3 classes at once. I didn't feel like writing that much. I was enrolled in Pus, mid-year exam was in May. Since I joined class 3 without studying class 1 and class 2, I was not able to answer the questions. I ran away from Lusukk school hiding the question paper in my hat on the day of Nepali.
At that time, it was customary to call all the parents and tell them the results. On the day of the result, our father also went to school. Ba looked at my face when the teacher called out my name as Chabilal Dahal while announcing the results. When the teacher said 'Fail', Ba's face turned dark. I was devastated and came home crying. Then I started paying attention to my studies. I started going to school regularly. I passed the final exam in November. I was second or third in class 4. I stood second in class 5. They admitted me to the 7th standard by jumping the class. I studied till 10th standard in Narayani Vidya Mandir Shivnagar.
When I was studying in 10th grade, I came to know that China is ruled by communists. The village teacher Chandraraj Bhurtel was a communist. He used to say, 'Communist system in China is good, we should be too'. It had a little effect on me. His brother Pushpalal and I used to study in the same class.
At that time, a magazine called 'Illustrated China' was going to schools. Mao's Red Book also went from village to village. I first saw a large photo of Mao in an illustrated China magazine given to me by Pushpalal. I wondered what kind of ability Mao would have. Later, when the communist movement was advancing in Nepal, a party was formed in the name of Mao and a people's war was fought for ten years. Mao's inspiration made such a great revolution and change in Nepal. That is why Mao has an indelible mark on me.
In Shivnagar, the Congress had influence over the canal, while the village where we lived under the canal was under the influence of the Communists. I sometimes think, if there was a house on the canal, would it be Congress or Communist? Being home in a communist settlement, I automatically became communist.
Dad was not at home when I gave SLC. The production of two and a half bigha land was difficult to feed us. The family was big. We had five children when we came to Chitwan from Kaski, three children were born after coming to Chitwan. Food was scarce throughout the year. He went there when I was giving SLC because the land was opened in Bardia around 2026. I passed SLC with flying colours.
I stood first in the 10th semester. It was said that a good student should study science. The house was not able to teach science. Dad used to say that you can't teach after SLC. Mother used to say that we should teach anyway. After passing SLC in 2026, my mother has made 300 from my relatives to teach me ISC. I came to Kathmandu with that three hundred rupees. Admissions in Amrit Science, Trichandra Campus had been closed. I joined in Patan. My school teacher Chandraraj Bhurtel helped me to get admission in ISC.
When he went home after giving the ISC first year exam, he found out that his neighbor Dhan Bahadur Vishwakarma was a communist. Didn't know before. He secretly took me at night to meet the leader. He took it to Poornlal Vishwakarma's house. Communist leader Rooplal Vishwakarma lived there. It was Ranendra Barailly who managed to give me a subscription for one rupee. He himself wrote the petition. Rooplal made me a member of the Communist Party for a fee of one rupee. I became a party member in 2028.
At that time, it was not known how many communist parties there are in Nepal. It was roughly known that the Communist was Pushpalal Shrestha and the Congress was BP Koirala. I did not know that there are many parties even within the Communist Party. After becoming a member of the party, it gradually became known. Since Rooplal is in Pushpalal Group, I have been a member of it. Shortly after I became a member, Rohit (Narayanman Bijukche) and Rooplal left the Pushpalal group. I also became a member of Rooplal group.
Chandralal and Pushpalal Bhurtel, who are close to me, have been close to the 4th Congress (Mohanvikram, Nirmal Lama). I began to wonder which communist was right. I, Pushpalal Bhurtel, Ram Bahadur Thapa (Badal), Khem Bhandari and Mitraraj Dawadi went to the bank of Narayani river and held a meeting. We made a 'Study Board' to decide which one is right.
Then we met Amik Sherchan from Divyanagar in Chitwan. He met him through Mitraraj Dawadi. I was impressed by Sherchan in that meeting. Those who want to have a revolution. They also kept guns in the house. I became a member of the Fourth Congress at the end of 2032.
After completing BSc Agriculture, I went to Arughat in Gorkha to teach. Lu used to read Sun's literature, Marx, Lenin, Mao's books, Nepalese documents. I thought I had to read and digest everything. By the time I arrived in 2034, I had already learned a lot about the communist revolution.
When I was teaching at Arughat School, I started to develop public relations. I taught school in the afternoon, taught adult education in the evening, and taught farmers to make compost. At that time I was considered as the best teacher in the school. I used to teach Science, Maths and English.
After I taught for one year, eight students passed SLC in first class, many others passed. The headmaster of Arughat was Ramkumar Shrestha. He later became a minister in the Khilraj Regmi-led cabinet. I made him a minister. I used to keep party documents in the school drawer, after school we teachers used to study.
I was camping in Arughat at Bhuvan and Ganesh Shrestha's house. Ganesh Shrestha also used to teach in Arughat School. Bhuvan used to work in the health sector. That family has had a tremendous influence on me. I later camped at Arutar, a village above.
After studying for two and a half years, I felt that I should be a 'full-timer' in the party. Khambsingh Kunwar inspired me to be a 'wholetimer'. He passed away last year. There was also a leader of the Khawas tribe. My fellow teachers included Vasudev, Yoga Bahadur Lamichhane, Ishwari Khanal and others. Their relationship made it easier for me to move on because they ate and sat together.
I was very active in politics. Committees were formed by walking from Arughat to Palungtar at night. Baama was worried that it would be difficult if her son, who had just started earning a job, joined full-time politics. I was advised that I should be the manager of the Agricultural Development Bank. I wanted to jump into politics. It was said that the mother should not have left her job. But I left the permanent job and returned to Chitwan in 2036.
Chitwan's friends did not immediately say that he would join politics. I taught for some time at Parvatipur School in Chitwan. That's when I decided to become a 'full-timer'. Then the first field of operation became Madi in Chitwan and the second was Nawalparasi (Nawalpur). That was after the 2036 movement. I met Mohanvikram Singh in Butwal. The meeting was arranged by Amik Sherchan. Mohanji was called Mao of Nepal. Nirmal Lama was called Chao. Mao and Chao are both founding leaders of the Chinese Communist Party. Chuteh was called the Sage Devkota of Sindhuli 'Azad'.
After becoming a 'full-timer', I used to work unaccounted for. That made me popular within the party. In January 2038, I became the president of the youth association from the youth gathering held in Kushinagar, India. Then the field opened up for me.
There was a conflict within the party. At first I was towards Mohanvikramji. I decided to support Mohan Vaidya (Kiran) ji as his line was not going well. Big leaders were involved in the sector scandal in Kathmandu. Kiranji proposed to me as party general minister after they were reduced to one level. I became the general minister of the party before the 2046 movement.
Then the party united, broke up. We started a civil war. I entered the people's war after forming a team of Kiran, Baburam Bhattarai, Ram Bahadur Thapa, Post Bahadur Bogti and others. Ten years of civil war ended in 2064 through a peace process. Through peace process, Constituent Assembly, constitution making, the country has now implemented federal republic.
After the People's War, the Constituent Assembly elections and the creation of the Constitution, the oppressed classes and communities have been empowered to a large extent. Their self-esteem has gained. The people are sovereign. A republic has been established in the country.
I want the future generation to remember me as the party and its chief leader who made great sacrifices and record-breaking work for this. Not only for revolution and peace establishment, I also got the opportunity to implement the agenda of the Constituent Assembly since 2007. I got the opportunity to lead while writing the constitution. Rarely in history has a single man led and played a key role in building the foundations of socialism for social justice, good governance and economic prosperity. I got that opportunity. I am proud of it.
