Marquez magic in a story to watch

There is a strange coincidence - between Marquez's life and his novel 'One Hundred Years of Solitude'. The main character of the novel suffers from memory loss in adulthood. Marquez also suffered from dementia in his last years. Many coincidences and references to foreboding keep repeating in this novel.

There was no shortage of people who wanted to make a movie based on the works of the literary figure Marquez. However, Marquez did not give importance to the proposal of cinematographers throughout his life. After making sure that the novel will be completely judged, filmed in Colombia, and the actors will be from Colombia and the dialogue will be in Spanish, his sons agreed to the visualization of this novel.

'One Hundred Years of Solitude' was published in 1967. After five and a half decades, it has come to the audio scene. The series consists of eight episodes – one hour each. About the series Director Laura

Mora says, “Being a filmmaker, even a Colombian, visualizing this novel is both an honor and a challenge. We tried to find the separation of the two mediums, literary and audio-visual, and to weave the image by maintaining the beauty, poetic feeling and depth of this work.' Tried. No dialogues in the book are missing. A tight screenplay has been prepared to make the plot easy for the audience, along with suitable dialogues.

Ursula and Jose Arcayo Uendo get married without family and social approval. They are close relatives. Fearing evil, Ursula's mother refuses to allow the marriage, so the couple leaves their home, along with friends and entourage. After several years of difficult journey and search, they reach Nirjar settlement. They get tired, faint, get sick with most of their friends.

One day Archie finds a solution in a dream. Takes a decision - not to wander anymore, to live in the same settlement. Names the settlement – Macondo. There they sweat and work hard. Children are born there. Macondo is a fictional town in the Marquesas. The city of Arakata, where he was born and spent his childhood, became the basis for the fictional construction of the city of Myokondo.

Hoje Archaio is fascinated by the miraculous devices and research of the gypsies who come every year. Various experiments are poor, the search continues to sink into research. Ursula takes care of all the household chores. Instruments such as magnets, compasses, telescopes, photography machines, pipes are imported by gypsies. Hoje Archie begins disappearing into the laboratory with Gru tapping Melkweye, fantasizing about mining gold and getting rich using scientific equipment.

The sequence of the novel and the scene do not exactly match. The leading character among the gypsies on the scene, Melkweye, arrives much later – after Macendo settles. While in the novel it is described in the beginning. The events are narrated by the youngest son, Aureliano, through flashbacks – both in the novel and in the visual medium. He foreknows future events. When it comes to the second generation, love, betrayal, revenge, jealousy in this family add a terrible strain to the relationship. The dense dimensions of Katmar and war begin to rise in the sky of Macondo.

dreams are a powerful means of making the plot mysterious. Father Jose Arcayo Uendo, younger son Aureliano and daughter Rebeca are all three who are often moved by dreams, even excited. Shaking chairs, bright blood, flames, the rustling of the wind, the dark darkness are such images that dance in the eyes of the audience.

Towards the end of the first series, Ursula's eldest son dies. The thin stream of blood that flowed from his body traveled like a serpent, and stopped at Ursula's feet. This symbolic scene is both terrifying and artistic.

In the presence of the youngest son, two daughters and the mother character, silence has a lot of space. It seems that silence is one of the characters of the series. Without speaking, they reveal a lot of unspoken things through their eyes, facial expressions and movements. The environment becomes very mysterious. The visuals are presented so strongly that the story is understood even with minimal use of dialogue. Haunting scenes surface at regular intervals. Silence makes it worse. Darkness adds more mystery. In the same way, the music plays.

is more silent than horror cinema, leading to a deeper level of dread. The last two parts of this series focus entirely on combat. Religion enters the independent city of Macondo first, and the church is established. Government, law, banks, security personnel, prisons etc control mechanisms are established. Macondo's freedom shrinks. There is a dark shadow of colonialism here.

Independent Macondo State, administration, law, prison, church being subservient can be linked to that internal colonialism. Hoje Arcaio becomes uneasy, even defiant. Then he falls into oblivion. The oblivion and futility of Hoje tied to the Katus tree is itself a strong resistance against status quo. The last days of the leader who built the independent city of Macondo were spent in seclusion and confinement.

The settlement became organized, but it gradually fell apart. Ursula's patience and wisdom led to a new, attractive and spacious residence, but the house became a hotbed of conflict. Not a shred of peace and harmony remained. On the one hand, there is a house shaken by disharmony and jealousy, promiscuous sex and marriage between sisters. On the other hand is the increasing brutality of the radical government apparatus. One by one, the members of the house go out, some are killed. Thus solitude begins to become the fate of many characters. Here the visual identity with the title of the book can be added.

is a regular use of voice-over in this scene-series. The events that cannot be shown in the scene are presented to the audience through this plot. The plot moves between reality and imagination. This combination of events is fascinating. Myths, legends and recent history and contemporary politics are also connected.

Marquez is the father of magical realism. When his novel came to the visual language, it was not full of mystery. The first part ends there, where Ursula realizes that her mother's dire situation has been proven right and becomes emotional. The younger son has entered with an armed squad to attack his home town of Macondo.

While the book of Marquez has been brought to life, the sex scene has been given equal prominence on the digital screen. The sexual activities of Ursula and José Arcayo Uenda occupy the opening section. Later, the sexual activities of the children's generation got a lot of screen space. Love, sex and marriage are not easy and simple lines. The eldest son lives with his wife Rebecca. The brothers find themselves having sex with a local fortune teller, Pilar Ternella.

The children born in this way are brought up in the Uenda family under Ursula's care. The younger son marries the mayor's daughter who is not even old enough. Love and physical relationship do not have any limits. All walls of modest/obscene, moral/immoral lines have been broken down. From the point of view of perceived social dignity, the foundation of the book can be said to be weak and sensual.

The essence of the preface is canceled. However, not all ideals and acceptable events in society exist. Again, art-literature does not accept restrictions, it transcends all prohibitions. All that happens in the background is the dark/light layer. Vladimir Novokov, Gustavo Fluvert, D.H. The works of Lawrence, Saadat Hasan Manto, Ismat Chuktai etc. writers were also considered forbidden in their time, even banned. This Marquez creation was also initially dismissed due to its strong sexual references.  The

visual and sound effects are memorable. The presence of color is noticeable. Government officials order the people of Maconda to wear the color blue compulsorily in their homes. On the other hand, the leader of the rebel group decides to decorate his house in his party's colors. The people of Myokonda are pilfered in this color. Day after day they are killed, women are raped.

In this uncertainty another revolutionary group emerges. Aureliano, the youngest son, leads it. Now he is called Colonel Aureliano Uyondo and the people of Macondo are fed up with the constant fighting, attacks and destruction. There is no hope left on either side. Politics has become a great disease – Ursula's expression, the dark color of that despair.

The picture of Colombia, which has been in conflict for a long time, comes before us due to the fights between different groups, killings and negotiations and agreements to get closer to power. Colombia's war-torn government, FARC rebels and other small groups are remembered.

Towards the end of the series, Hoje Archayo Uenda dies. On the day of the funeral of the architect of Nayabasti Macondo, the developer, Macondo's streets, roofs, alleys are covered with yellow rain. Yellow is a traditional sign of illness and death. A town bereft of a parent is in mourning and the foreshadowing of other evils easily creeps into the viewer's imagination. Some secrets remain in the minds of the audience. Pages written in Sanskrit are found turning at the beginning. At the end, the same Sanskrit sentence written in Devanagari appears in the scene.

This visualization tells the story of three generations. There are four generations left. Even half of the novel is not covered by the first scene-series. There is news that the work of the second part is also progressing, it will be seen soon. The destruction of the family, other evils, other socio-political scandals and secrets are yet to be opened. This will be the right time - to study the authentic novel and feel the magical realism of Marquez.
