Breaking the political history of Jumla, RPP's Gyan Bahadur Shahi (Gyanendra) has entered the parliament for the second time. He is the first person in Jumla's electoral history to be elected as a representative MP.

Shahi won in the final public results on Saturday. He received 14,816 votes. He defeated NCP's Naresh Bhandari by a margin of 3,181 votes. Bhandari received 11,635 votes.

No one has won the post of MP twice since 2048 BS. However, it seems that the party has won twice. Leader Shahi, who is in the news for his outspoken statements, was born in a normal family in Pingi village of Sinja Rural Municipality-3, Jumla. He entered the parliament at the age of 30. He was the chief whip of the RPP in the House of Representatives before the Gen-G movement.

He passed SLC in 2062 BS from Kailash Secondary School, Phungra, Sinja and went to study CA in India. But he left his studies in the middle and returned to Nepal and started an anti-corruption campaign. Shahi, who keeps speaking in the media with accounts of corruption of big leaders, gained popularity because of that campaign.

During that campaign, he went to various parts of the country as the coordinator of 'Our Nepal, We Nepali'. This activity made him famous in most parts of the country. As a result, he joined the RPP before the last election. He is now a spokesperson. Shahi, who entered politics by gaining influence through social media, entered the House of Representatives in 2079 BS by defeating the strong alliance of the Congress and the Maoists by a wide margin.

At that time, he received 22,819 votes. Congress-Maoist alliance candidate Goma Gautam Kunwar received 11,959 votes. Shahi presented himself in the parliament in a visible and audible manner. He raised the problems of Karnali. He tried to brand the apples of Karnali in Kathmandu. Due to this, he was heard in many parts of the country. These works of his became the main basis for winning the election.

When the second Constituent Assembly of 2070 BS was also not progressing the work of drafting the constitution smoothly, he started to be active in pressure-generating activities.

After the devastating earthquake of 2072 BS, he was deployed in rescue work together with various groups. In 2075 BS, claiming to be an anti-corruption activist, he started to be active on social media. In April 2076, during an event organized in Surkhet to carry out anti-corruption activities, the police took him to Kathmandu. He was beaten to death in Pulchowk, Chitwan. After that, instead of retreating, he took a more serious stand against the established parties.

He joined the RPP on Falgun 6, 2078 and got the opportunity to play an important role in the party. RPP Chairman Rajendra Lingden also gave him the responsibility of the party's spokesperson. He was recommended from 6 constituencies in this election. Shahi, who had started preparing to file his candidacy from Surkhet Constituency No. 2, returned to Jumla remembering his birthplace. This time, he has broken the history of Jumla where no other party except the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has won the parliamentary elections repeatedly and Jumla has not fielded any candidate. This time, it was very uncomfortable for him. But due to his election strategy and effective image among the youth, Shahi defeated NCP's Bhandari by a huge margin and entered parliament for the second consecutive term.

Bhandari is the strongest candidate for the district. Bhandari, who earned fame as the initiator of the establishment of the Karnali Institute of Health Sciences, is a leader with a strong hold in the district. But due to internal strife within the party and the inability to attract the votes of the youth, Bhandari has missed the opportunity to write history as a candidate who entered the parliament repeatedly.
