Due to incessant rains, there has been a problem in avoiding landslides on the Karnali highway. Due to the rains since last Friday, landslides have occurred in four places including Gagnekhola, Satmod near Hulm on the Kalikot road section of the highway and near Dahikhola on the Kalikot-Dailekh border.
The road division office said that due to continuous rain, there is also a problem in removing landslides. Chief of Road Division Office Chetan Kumar Mandal informed that there is difficulty in removing the landslide on Karnali Highway. He said that despite starting the work of removing the landslide by using a
machine, the landslide did not stop. Gagnekhola and Hulme were blocked by huge stones falling from above. According to Mandal, the head of road division, it will take time to break stones with machines. The road division office has informed that the road will not resume until the landslide is removed.
Dozens of vehicles are stranded on the road when the Karnali highway is blocked due to heavy rain. From Surkhet Nepalganj to Mugu, Jumla, Kalikot, traffic has been stopped.
