The Kaski police have requested permission to detain Ravi Lamichhane, the former Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister and Chairman of the National Independent Party, who was arrested for investigating cooperative fraud and organized crime.

Lamichhane was submitted to the bench of Judge Navraj Dahal of District Court Kaski on Sunday for extension of time for investigation.

Attorney Kamala Kafle of the District Public Prosecutor's Office, Assistant District Attorney Shantidevi Sharma and Bipinraj Tiwari and Ved Bahadur Bista argued on behalf of the victim and demanded an extension of 6 days for the investigation. Senior advocates Sushil Pant and Narayan Ghimire argued on behalf of Lamichhane. The court source said that the debate on extension of time is over and a decision will be made shortly.
