Five international airlines will be offering the film 'Rajaganj: Pooja Sir', directed by Deepak Rauniyar, on board flights. Passengers traveling on Qatar, American, United, Lufthansa and Swiss airlines will be able to watch the film while sitting inside the plane.

Rauniyar's 'Highway ' premiered at the prestigious Berlin International Film Festival in 2012. This film is the first Nepali film to premiere at a major festival in the world. 'Rajaganj', which premiered at the world's oldest film festival, Venice last year, has since toured more than a dozen festivals including Busan, Tonic Black Nights, Gothenburg, Thessaloniki, Sydney, Mumbai, etc.

Produced by Bansuri Films from Nepal and Adi Films in collaboration with Norway's Tannhauser Gate, Rauniyar has opened a new market for Nepali films by taking the film to the 'programming' of international airlines.

'The world's number one airline like Qatar flies to Nepal, but they would not program Nepali films on it. We feel that we need this space in our film, even if it is for our cultural presence. We are proud that this journey begins with our film,' says Neeraj Shrestha, producer of Rajaganj, 'This is not just the flight of our stories. It is the beginning of the journey of Nepali films reaching a global audience flying at 30,000 feet.'

Global in-flight entertainment company Penny Black Media has distributed 'Rajaganj' to international airlines. The company had bought the in-flight distribution rights of the film in Venice. Deepak's team started airline 'screening' of the film as soon as the theatrical run ended. Julieta, VP of Content Distribution at Penny Black, says that this journey of airline screening is preliminary and the agreement is still being worked out. 'Rajaganj is a film that can attract a diverse audience on airlines. I am very proud to be able to support its in-flight journey. I am eager to see the film on more in-flight screens around the world,' she said. '

Inspector Pooja Thapa (Asha Magarati) is assigned from Kathmandu to search for two abducted children during the Madhesh movement. The film was recently shown simultaneously on 62 screens in France. According to director Rauniyar, more than 17,000 viewers watched the film in France. The film was also broadcast on the UK's main television channel 'Channel Four'. The film, which won the 'Free to Be Me Award' in the Netherlands, has also been shown at prestigious universities like Harvard, New York, and Boston. The film had to face censorship problems when it was screened in Nepal. The film is being screened on two futuristic platforms, White Rabbit in Norway and Kinema in the US. Producer Purna Singh Bareilly said that Nepali viewers will be able to watch the film through this digital platform. 'We are preparing to do a new experiment. We plan to hold more than 200 screenings and conversations around the world through Kinema,' Bareilly said.

The film is written by Deepak and actress Magrati and David Barker. The film is produced by director Rauniyar, Ram Babu Gurung, Asha Magrati, Alan R Milligan and Neeraj Shrestha.
