The Nagdhunga–Sisne Khola tunnel has come into operation from today. The tunnel has been opened after 80 months since construction began. The tunnel will be open 24 hours a day.
According to Soujanya Nepal, Director of the Nagdhunga Tunnel Construction Project, the tunnel has initially been opened for emergency vehicles in the first phase. In the first phase, the tunnel will be open for ambulances, fire trucks, and security vehicles.

Although construction began with the goal of completion within 42 months, the Ministry of Infrastructure has stated that it was only completed after delays caused by COVID-19 and other reasons. The construction contract was awarded to the Japanese company Hazama Ando Corporation. The work was completed in 80 months, or about 7 years, after construction began.
