Despite ample liquidity in banks and financial institutions, credit flow to the private sector has been sluggish. According to the Economic Survey released on Wednesday, deposits in banks and financial institutions increased by 6.64 percent to Rs 7,745 billion 880 million in 2082/83 as of last Falgun.

During the same period, credit flow to the private sector increased by 4.4 percent to Rs 5,741 billion 240 million, according to the Economic Survey.
