Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Badri Prasad Pandey has said that the contribution of the tourism sector to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Nepal is only 5 percent. In the fourth session of 'Chitwan Chintan' organized by Kantipur Media Group in Chitwan, Tourism Minister Pandey said that more efforts should be made to increase the contribution of the tourism sector to the GDP.
"Even in the gross domestic product (GDP) of the Maldives, the tourism sector contributes 80 percent while in Nepal it is only 5 percent. We have to work hard," he said.
He also said that there is a possibility of making Chitwan an EP center from a tourist point of view. "Chitwan is the middle point of mountains, hills and plains, Chitwan is located between Mechi Mahakali," he said, "Chitwan is also close to Kathmandu, the Wagmati government It has also decided to be a tourist capital, close to Pokhara Therefore, there is a possibility that Chitwan can be developed as an EP center from a tourist point of view.' "We should be able to give the impression that the skies of Nepal are safe," he said, "we are behind us if we do not ensure that we can board planes and helicopters at any time. We should be able to say that the skies of Nepal are smooth and dynamic."
