In Bhaktapur-1, the candidate of the National Independent Party, Rukesh Ranjit, won by breaking the stronghold of the Nepal Workers and Peasants Party. He won by securing 33,436 votes, while his closest rival, Prem Suwal of the Nepal Workers and Peasants Party, secured 28,147 votes.

Born on 4th of July 2036 in Nasamna, Bhaktapur, Rukesh is an electronics businessman by profession. He started student politics from the Ananthavady University, a close affiliating union of the CPN-UML from Bhaktapur Multiple Campus in 2054 BS. He was a candidate in the vice-presidential election of the University at that time. But he could not win.

Rukesh, an active member of the UML since before 2054 BS, has also expanded his business along with his studies. He has also joined social campaigns. He was affiliated with the Bhaktapur Electronic Businessmen's Association 14 years ago. He has been involved in social campaigns since 8 years ago by joining the Lion Club and Blood Donor Association.

He completed his MBA from Vinayak Mission University, India and is currently studying MBS from Nepal Commerce Campus, Minbhavan, Kathmandu.

He joined the Bhaktapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry 12 years ago and has served in various positions for 5 terms. He has served in the association for 2 terms as a member of the working committee, 1 term in the fair subcommittee and 2 terms in the social service committee. He has been in charge of the post of general secretary since the district convention of the Bhaktapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry held last year.

Rukesh, who joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) towards the end of 2080 BS, had started expanding the party after completing the Bhaktapur city convention. The political journey that started as the RSSS Bhaktapur city secretary did not stop there. He became the regional secretary 2 years ago and became the regional president within two months. Six months later, he was given the responsibility of the secretary of the Bhaktapur District Working Committee.

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) decided to field him from Bhaktapur-1. In the House of Representatives elections held on Falgun 21, he won from Bhaktapur-1, a stronghold of the NEMKIPA. He defeated NEMKIPA secretary and current House of Representatives member Prem Suwal by a margin of 5,289 votes.
