'I travel from Arghakhanchi to Gulmi on a motorcycle and deliver milk to customers' homes'

I started selling milk eleven years ago. Earlier, I used to carry milk in gallons on my head. After delivering the milk, I would walk for an hour and a half and return. Later, I started carrying it in vehicles. I have been selling milk on a motorcycle for about seven years.

'I travel from Arghakhanchi to Gulmi on a motorcycle and deliver milk to customers' homes'

What you should know

There are three buffaloes in the barn. Two of them are milkers. I wake up at 4 am. I mow the grass and milk the cows. Then I carry the milk to the collection center. The milk is collected from home at Deurali Chowk at 5:30 am. After collecting the milk, I reach Tamghas Bazaar at 7 am.

My home is Baigaun, Chhatradev Rural Municipality-7, Arghakhanchi. I am 41 years old now. I have two sons, Ram and Laxman, at home with my wife. The elder is in 9th and the younger is in 5th grade. My wife works with me. Our main market is Tamghas. It is 10 kilometers to Tamghas market. I commute daily on a motorcycle. I sell 75 liters of milk daily. On average, I sell one kilo of curd and five liters of curd. I also sell vegetables in season. I carry milk and other supplies on my motorcycle. I sell milk at Tamghas market and it ends at 11 o'clock. I deliver milk to all the rooms. Since I deliver it directly to the house, the number of customers is increasing. Milk is sold at Rs. 120 per liter. I am working to bring pure buffalo milk to the market. I have been selling milk since 2071. Earlier, I used to carry milk in gallons on my head. I used to walk for an hour and a half and then return after delivering the milk. Later, I started carrying it in a vehicle. I have been selling milk on a motorcycle for about 7 years.

75 liters of milk are sold daily. On average, I also sell one kilo of curd and five liters of curd.

I currently have 66 regular customers. All of these are customers who take money on a monthly basis. The daily cash payment is 2 thousand rupees. I have been paying others on a monthly basis. I keep a record of the daily milk. There is a record of purchase and sale. There is no such problem. Monkeys, boars and deer harass me. They even eat turmeric and cause trouble. Wild animals are very sad. There is nothing else like it. Before going abroad, I was engaged in subsistence agriculture and animal husbandry. I started it professionally after coming from abroad. I have passed my SLC. I studied up to 12th standard but did not continue my studies after not passing. This is how I used to meet my household expenses. Now I am satisfied with this profession. I also have local chickens and goats at home. There are 5 goats. There are oranges and lemons. There is also a timur farm. I am preparing to make everything commercial. Selling milk is a daily routine. Cold, rain and clouds are of no concern. Because there are regular customers. After the milk is collected, it must be brought to the market.

Since it is pure milk, the customers are gradually increasing. I go to each customer's house and room. After blowing the horn, the customer leaves. And they put the milk. I return home after finishing my business at 11 am. And I do other work such as cutting grass for the buffalo. My family and I are satisfied with this profession. I don't have such big ambitions in food and clothes. Ordinary is enough. There are no other big expenses in the house. I have enough money for my sons' education and food.

Milk collection is done through Bhagwati Unnat Bhai Palan Group. Earlier there were 9900 people, now there are 66. It is collected in a cooperative. Since I get some profit through the cooperative, this is how the business is done. Similarly, Shobhakhar Pandey and I do business through this cooperative. Earlier the cooperative used to pay salaries, later we started doing business like marketing and earning income. In this, the two of us are doing business.
