It has been 43 years since he migrated from Sunsari's Bhutaha to Dhankuta. In the meantime, how many upheavals have come, I have not counted. The road had just opened when I was coming from Dharan. At that time, the memory of arriving in Dhankuta from Dharan for the first time after paying Rs 7 car fare is fresh.

I recently got married. I had to raise household expenses for my wife and myself. I came here with a plan to earn from the skills at hand . I came at the young age of 22 years and now I am old in Dhankuta. Now I am 65 years old . It's fun to remember the ups and downs of the past!

For some time, I used to come home once/twice a month . I didn't want to bring my family with me until I had an income address. 

Now I have one son and four daughters . All of them are married. Out of all the children, 17 have become grandchildren. Now my family has become like a flower garden. Even at the age of grandchildren playing, the old body has not been given rest . I am running the household expenses by working according to my skills. 

In the beginning, I worked as a cosmetic shop and umbrella repairer at the Thursday weekly haat in Dhankuta market. Umbrellas were repaired with five to ten paise of copper with a hole in the middle. I was very happy to see the earnings at that time . I don't remember how much the first income was, but it made me believe that I can earn from this profession . After that, I carried the goods on my back and sold the goods in the weekly haat until Hile, Pakhribas, Basantpur in Tehrathum, Manglung and Mude in Sankhuwasabha. 500 more per month would be saved by cutting all the expenses . I don't take any ambal . Therefore, apart from the necessary work, the expenses are not that much.  There was no room to shop

. I used to throw things on the pavement. Both cosmetics and umbrella repair made good money for me . So far the earnings from the same job are satisfactory . I raised my children's marriage expenses from this profession. So far, household expenses have been reduced. Since 10/15 years ago, after adding the repair work of gas stove, pressure cooker, the income is better than expected . As the investment is less, the earning from skill work is also satisfactory .

When he came to Dhankuta, the house rent was 5 rupees per month. Now I will pay 5000 . I send Rs 6,000 every week to my wife as household expenses. The rest is my expenses and savings. The children did only normal studies . Son has gone to Qatar for employment. There is no need to take out a loan for going there. I was able to send him there with my own earnings. For festivals, clothing, snacks, the income of the shop on the sidewalk has reached .
