Guests at the homestay are delighted to have Tharu dishes prepared from organic produce grown in their own farm.
Bardia Park, which is connected to our settlement, is known in the world for its natural beauty, biodiversity and rare wildlife. Spotted tigers, one-horned rhinoceros, leopards, zebras, chital biharsinges, wild elephants come to graze here in the fields. Close to the house, gadials, alligators and crocodiles are seen in Karnali's Bhangalo. Many foreign and local tourists come to see the wild animals and nature here.
Seeing that attraction, I have operated a homestay business with nature guides. Madhuvan municipality-1 resides in Dalla village. My village is famous in the country/abroad for homestays . Now I am 30 years old .
In 2012, a foreign guest came to study elephants during his Ph.D. . At that time, he got an opportunity to work as his assistant. While rocking him, my brother, who works at the National Nature Conservation Fund, taught me how to use the GPS.
The same experience gave him the opportunity to take training in tiger counting in Banke in 2013 . After that, I got a chance to work in various districts including Banke, Kailali, Surkhet, Salyan, Chitwan etc.
While working as an assistant to the guests who come for wildlife study, I operated the Homestay Tharu Khaja Ghar 5 years ago with the aim of feeding them. At that time, Bardia National Park had supported Rs 50,000 to operate the lunch house.
After a year, I started homestay number 24 in Dalla, for which the National Nature Conservation Fund gave 50,000 . It has been four years since the homestay started. There is a family of eight. With the help of other family members, running the homestay has become easier. He has his own farm .
The production of own farm provides food throughout the year . I delight the internal and external guests who come to the homestay by cooking all the dishes of local Tharu food prepared from organic produce grown in my own farm .
When the dishes like rice, roti, decree etc. are cooked, the guests come back to my homestay next time. Being a nature guide himself, the guests return happy when they show the king of the jungle tiger, rhinoceros, elephants and other wild animals on a jungle walk.
Helping to protect wildlife has created jobs in their own villages . There is a sense of satisfaction in welcoming guests from many countries to their own yard. The nature guide and homestay business is also satisfactory with the flow of guests.
There are homestays in the villages. So that everyone has become self-employed . It does not have to wander around looking for work . Now I have arranged a comfortable room with AC in the homestay . It has made the guests comfortable in the summer .
I earn 20,000 from homestay business and 30,000 from nature guide and 10,000 per month. If the number of guests increases, more will be earned . Salt, oil, pulses, spices, rags are spent on clothes . To renew the nature guide's license, you have to pay 2,000 annually to the park . Similarly, 2,000 is spent annually for insurance .
Satisfied even by earning a little while living in his own village . Although I couldn't do anything else from the business I was doing at home, I managed to add 3 and a half acres of land . Believing in karma and doing this in my own place is a great success for me.
