It has been 25 years since the gravel was crushed on the banks of Henwa river. I have built a house in Gattir. I used to plant paddy in the dark in another's field for a year. There was no need to buy rice when the paddy was grown by itself. This year, due to the flooding of the river, Chaite rice was not planted, and since it is not likely to be planted immediately, it is not possible to plant winter rice.

The main source of income is the money obtained from the sale of the sand extracted from the river and the stones and gravel from the river. If the gravel and sand are not sold, it will be difficult to run the household business . The residents of the river Gattir continue to suffer from floods after rains. A child was saved from the flood that occurred on the night of June 2nd.

On the afternoon of October 12th of this year, the sand taken from the river for sale, crushed ballast worth 2000 was washed away. The kitchen, bathroom and kitchen were also washed away . Ledo also completed more than half of the house, now we are living in the same house after repairing it.

We are using the public toilet made by the city police of Fidim Municipality after washing the garbage. When he is healthy, the elders work together to collect sand and pound gravel . I don't worry if he gets too tired. Even if you don't want to work, the stomach doesn't understand that. I had to push my hand and mouth. Sand and gravel work is very difficult. Vegetables, fish, meat and oil are well spent on spices.

The kitchen often cooks meat . We eat meat four days a week. Mostly crab, then bangur sometimes I bring khasi meat . Ranga costs 200 rupees per kg and Bangur 250 rupees, Khasi is available at 900 rupees per kg. To cook meat, it costs about 2000 per month to buy telbhutun and maramsala. 

Earlier, when fishing in the river, less meat was bought. Hydro started running in the Hewa river, the river completely dried up. After the water dried up in the river, there was no fishing. When a lot of fish was caught, it was also sold, from which two or four paise was extra income.

Due to not being able to catch fish, on the one hand the income from selling has stopped and on the other hand, the cost of buying meat has increased . You have to earn 15,000-20,000 per month to cover household expenses, if you don't earn that much, you will take a loan. In order not to incur debt, I work hard in the evening and in the morning .

The winters are very cold in Khola Gadtir, we have to face floods in the dry season and the dust bothers us in the dry season . I do a lot of physical labor, maybe that's why I like food, digest it well, I am healthy even though my wife is sick. Diseases and floods also cause suffering, and the worry of what will happen to life keeps bothering us.
