I am a permanent resident of Biratnagar Metropolitan City-6 Sharsia Toll of Morang. Being a resident of a big city does not make a living. As I have to make a living, I am supporting my household by selling gram satu at Devkota Chowk in Biratnagar. We are now a family of 9 living in a narrow three-room house.

Now I am 35 years old . Father has passed 60 years. Mother was around 55 years old. I have a wife, a son, a daughter . Brother has a wife and a daughter . My 13 year old son studies in 7th standard . An 8-year-old daughter barely studies in 1st grade. This is my family details .

My list of sorrows is different. Dad suddenly got paralyzed about 2 months ago . He survived, but he is completely disabled. You cannot walk alone. Father has to spend 12,000 a month on medicine.  Even if it is like a

, it has to be endured. Now the responsibility of raising the financial burden of the family is on my shoulders and my brother . I sit in the square and sell chickpeas all day long . My brother will also sell satu by pushing a cart towards Mahaveer Chowk. Jahan of both of us takes care of all the housework . Jethani-Deurani together prepare gram satu and the required sarjam every day.  Making a

satu is very difficult. My brother and my brother's wife will also do the work of buying 150 rupees per kilo of chickpeas, roasting them and taking them to the mill to grind them. There is a crowd in the carts for healthy snacks. It is sold in our Terai region. I sell a glass of chickpea satu prepared by mixing birenun and lemon juice for 50 rupees .

In this way, despite suffering a lot, the monthly income from selling satu reaches about 20,000 . Even brother's 18/20 thousand is not enough . Two brothers are running the household expenses together . We also treat parents together . Children's education and parents' health care costs more. Daily ration water also has the same cost . Who doesn't want to eat delicious food and have a good time! But, I have to stay with my heart. 

Fish meat is eaten only during the week/fortnight . Chhath must come to buy new clothes. Due to rising prices, it is becoming difficult to meet the expenses . If the income of the brothers was 50/50 thousand per month, then the expenses were easily met. 

The biggest challenge is the children's school expenses. Those admitted to boarding school to provide good education have to pay a fee of 6,000 per month . It seems that it would have been possible to teach in government schools, but because the villagers are sending their children to private schools, we are also under pressure. Neighbors were also forced to send their children to boarding schools, and government school education is not credible.
