After playing in the U-19 World Cup, Nepal's women's cricket has shown signs of reaching a new level, our energy was very good in that World Cup held in Malaysia.

Three years ago when I came to Nepal from Delhi to play cricket for the first time, women's cricket was not much talked about till then. When we managed to qualify for the ICC U-19 World Cup, then it seemed to be the talk of the town. Men's cricket was already established.
It continues to be discussed. However, I felt that the Nepali women's cricket was not getting the discussion it should have. After Nepal's U-19 women's team qualified for the World Cup, the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has also given it a little more priority. If this kind of result is still to be given, women's cricket may also receive support in other ways.
If we want to develop women's cricket in Nepal, it is very important to have cricket academies. Whether it is opened by a can or by a person. I grew up learning cricket in Delhi, where there are quite a few different cricket academies. It helps a lot to understand the culture of cricket.
If there are academies in different places in Nepal, there will be a lot of cricket development for both men and women. Men's cricket has not developed much due to the fact that there are only a few academies. There is not a single cricket academy in my home district Mahottari. Matches can also be played in district tournaments. But, the basic thing is to learn in the academy. Basic technical training can only be given by the Academy. Academy is also necessary to form the base of our cricket.
Good facilities in good academy after paying money in India. But even in small academies there is a lot of focus on the basics. That is why Indian cricketers are 'skillful'. I also learned A-B-C-D of cricket in Delhi. Defense, drive, how to play in the cone is learned in the academy. Where one shot should be practiced a thousand times.
I only did shadow training for a month after joining the academy. Had to train all day on defense shots with cones on. The next day would be the shadow of the drive, to hold the bat. Even in bowling, netting was very behind me. First, I trained how to throw the ball, how to throw. That's why cricket should progress academically at the beginning. There are very few female cricketers who play straight bat in Nepal.
Many places in India play with matting. Most of the time it rains, it is played on the mat. Not every location has to have a good field. In Nepal, there are less fields in every place. I have not been able to play on a single good ground while playing selection cricket for our district and state. No grass was seen on any of the fields. Stones are scattered within the field. The standard of the wicket is also very poor. It is fine till school level. But it should be reform oriented in district and province. If we want to develop not only women's cricket, but the entire country's cricket, the facilities of the field should be added.
The domestic matches are also the reason why women's cricket in Nepal is not opening well. A domestic tournament should be a long one. Other competitions should also be added. Women's cricket is difficult to come up with just one tournament. In the current situation, the women's team has to be selected from 1-2 games. At least 4 long lasting league type competitions should be organized and adding other competitions like Prime Minister's Cup, Mayor's Cup would be good. In the
league, one team has to play against 8 other teams. Due to lack of competition, players get to play less. Players don't show the motivation to train hard when they play less. If the practice matches are also played for 40 overs, the player's skills develop. Now it seems that it is difficult for us to last Twenty-20 overs. Even if we play a 40-over match once a week, it will improve our game a lot. It teaches patience and improves skills.
After playing in the U-19 World Cup, Nepal's women's cricket has also shown signs of reaching a new level. Our energy was very good at the World Cup in Malaysia. Being a young team, fitness and running were good. However, we looked a little weak in batting. Because our batting base was not there. A skilled player may not score runs in 1-2 games, but in the third game he will score runs. That player lasts a long time. Skills are forever. We need to understand this.
The players who played in the U-19 World Cup were very agile, had good efforts but the batting was not up to par. We have to improve our base and then our skills will increase. Then we can even beat the big teams. Nepal is organizing the U-19 World Cup in 2027 along with Bangladesh. For that we have to build a base and teach skills from now on. In terms of organizers, we should provide all facilities to the coming team.
When Malaysia hosted the U-19 World Cup, they made 3 good grounds. Hotels, buses were also very good. We should pay a lot of attention to this aspect. Australia, South Africa are the teams sitting in good facilities. They look for facilities here accordingly. If we are not able to provide that facility, it may be difficult to organize other ICC tournaments in the future. What are the needs of big nations, we should do our homework from now on.
I have just joined the women's national cricket team. I understand a lot. The Nepali women's team has yet to win any tournament. The mentality of our women's team is also very different. As a big team, we give up before playing. While we didn't think like that even once in U-19. It is the same team of UAE whose U-19 team had 7 players who have played for the national team. But we never thought they were big.
We reached the World Cup by defeating that UAE. Just two years ago, UAE won the match in 7 balls by bowling out the Nepali U-19 team for 8 runs. We didn't even keep this in mind while playing. Why think that we can't play the World Cup when we can beat UAE, Pakistan? To say that we can play the World Cup, the players had to have a winning mentality first.
I think we'll make it to the World Cup this time. As a senior player in U-19, I did as much as I could, won matches. I will do my best to lead the women's team to the World Cup by playing better in the national team as well.
This was also the reason why we lost to Malaysia in the last over in the Asia Cup Qualifier. We didn't play with a positive mindset. We gave a gift to Malaysia by losing a game we had already won. From now on training should come with a winning mentality.
I couldn't play that game because of a big toe injury. By sitting outside and watching, I had the opportunity to understand many things in depth. A player must be able to keep himself calm in stressful situations. In that game against Malaysia, we lost our composure. The women's team has a lot of fitness issues. We should pay more attention to food. When there is no
camp, even if you are in your own area, you should train. A 14-day camp without doing anything about fitness throughout the year is not going to do anything. That is why players should pay attention to their own fitness and take responsibility for themselves. If we have been doing fitness all year round, we only get to focus on the games in the camp. Even the coach can't do anything at this time.
No matter what the coach does, he can't go on the field and play. As a player, you have to understand that whether there is a good coach or a bad coach, it is the player who plays. When we do well, the name of the player comes immediately. If the team does badly, the coach's name comes up immediately. That is where we are making a mistake.
Can, on his part, is making efforts to elevate women's cricket. Teams from different countries are being invited to play in Nepal. I think the government should support Can's move. We can play the World Cup. That is our goal. We are determined for that.
