Steel and aluminum production in Nepal has exceeded capacity. As many industries are involved in steel production, the production here is more than the consumption. Steel has various products. TMT alone requires 1 million tonnes annually.
Zinc sheets and pipes are produced two/two and a half million tons. Its market demand is around 120,000. After the earthquake, the demand for zinc leaf in the market increased rapidly. The government also revoked the Nepal Quality Mark (NS Mark) of zinc leaf to make imports easier. But so far the NS mark has not been implemented. That's why some people are doing wrong marketing.
There has also been an initiative to export zinc leaves with more production. A meeting was held between Nepal and India on this issue. Now there is a problem with Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) while exporting to India. BIS was renewed earlier. In recent times, India has been tightening some restrictions on BIS to promote domestic industry. We will import raw materials from India and export them to India, so India will not have to face any problem. Serious initiative of the government is necessary to solve such problems. The BIS blockade has been going on for four months. This has also affected exports. The
industry also has some problems. They have not been able to make a market. They have not been able to produce quality products. In order to be competitive, the government should introduce a policy of providing 24-hour electricity to Nepali industries. There is also a problem with the government's policy. He brings the budget, not implementation. There is also a problem in running large industries. Because there is a limit of 10 bighas .
The country can become an 'enterprise hub' if it provides better services to entrepreneurs than India and China. This requires homework. Revenue should be spent on infrastructure. Mainly to be done in steel sector. This is also the practice of the world. In India, the Ministry of Steel has been created. If we do the same, it will be good for the economy as a whole. If the East-West railway and metro work started in Kathmandu, there would have been a lot of development. It affects many areas. There are many opportunities in Nepal for 20/25 years when
comes. For this, the government should do something to keep the youth in the country. There are 20 rolling mills in Nepal. Five industries have been producing zinc leaves in the country. The first industry is Hulas Steel. Annual consumption of HR coal in Nepal is 4.5 lakh tonnes. Planting costs increase 5 times. Investment should be done accordingly. A lot of electricity is needed. Even now, as the transmission line network is not strong, load shedding has to be done from time to time. The government should pay attention to this.
If at least 10 areas are designated as corridors for industrial areas, employment will increase.
