Raithane food boosts tourism

We should focus on 'Destination Wedding', it has started in Chitwan, Bhairahawa, Lumbini and Janakpur targeting Indians, now it should be widened with the Himalayas as the focus.

Raithane food boosts tourism

Tourism is the main and important base for the development of Nepal. We have done something in this area. But this is not enough. I worked for a few years in various hotels at the leadership level. While working there, I got to understand and experience tourism and tourist activities, especially in South Asia and South East Asian countries. Lately, I have been especially focused on urban and night tourism.

Thamel is the center of Nepal for urban and night tourism. In recent times, even in Nepal, there has been an increase in the practice of everyone working in the household. Especially teenagers have stopped depending on their parents or guardians for their general expenses. Work has started to be respected.

In recent times, even the youth have been working hard. Since everyone has started working, the trend of going for sightseeing, going outing or spending for entertainment has increased. Food culture has grown a lot in the past decade. Pub or bar culture has also increased like abroad.

We should learn from Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos and other countries. Those countries have developed their infrastructure targeting all types of tourists. And, according to that, he arranged for an expensive and luxurious hotel because it would cost less.

The government of those countries also made the visa process very easy. Tourists also have options according to their personal preferences. But we are much richer than those countries. But we don't have the sea. Crops in Indonesia have only two seasons. It's raining, or the sun is shining. Thailand is almost the same. But we have 6 seasons. But it has not been used accordingly.

We need to focus on 'Destination Wedding'. Recently it has started targeting Indians in Chitwan, Bhairahawa/Lumbini and Janakpur. This plan has to be moved forward keeping the mountains in the center. Solukhumbu, Pokhara, Mustang and other areas can be fully utilized for this.

Airports have been built in places like Lumbini and Pokhara. But we don't seem to be able to take advantage of it. Let's look at the current Kumbh Mela in India. Millions of tourists went there. Millions have arrived from Nepal. In the same way, we can organize a similar festival by connecting Lumbini with Buddhism.

Through this, people who believe in or believe in Buddhism can be brought from all over the world. Likewise, Pokhara can be promoted by focusing on Indian high-end tourists. Adventure tourism activities in and around Pokhara can also be used to attract tourists.

The number of tourists has increased a bit, but it is not the same as before Covid. The traffic of tourists from China and other Asian countries is expected to increase from March. But it is very important for us to know how much the tourists who come in that way spend and who come outside of Kathmandu or reach the Himalayas.  How much they spend on the

is also important. In this we can learn from Bhutan. Bhutan has made a rule to spend at least 100 US dollars per day under the 'Sustainable Development Fee'. Even if it is not that much, we also need to make standards. Those same tourists can spend well in Bhutan, Thailand, India and they can also spend in us. Due to the lack of standards, we have seen more number of 'budget tourists' in Kathmandu, Pokhara and other cities.

has been done to spoil the natural beauty while building structures in us. Some tourists come to Nepal for trekking and mountain climbing, so attention should be paid to it. Our service does not seem to be that effective in the matter of air flights either. Apart from that, the recent air accidents have also affected tourism. Thamel is a place with the best nightlife in the world. The live music here is from Purple Haze, Glass to Club LOD, etc. making a difference. Two bands perform for 3/3 hours each day at the Purple Haze. LOD is another example of Thamel. It is one of the best clubs in the world. There is no setup and ambience like this in Asia.

Pubs, bars, clubs, double evenings, dance bars are all businesses of a different nature. But our administration lumps everyone in the same basket. This also affects businessmen. It would be better if we could arrange for all these to operate in different locations. But they are scattered in Thamel. Therefore, in the developing city, planning should be done from the beginning. Initially, the police administration caused unnecessary suffering. It has improved now.

We have a lot of different foods. But we have not made it universal. India's butter chicken and naan have become global. Even in our country there are dozens of foods associated with different cultures, which we can make universal. Lately, Master Chef Santosh Shah has been making a great contribution to make Nepali food global. Despite the potential, we have not been able to promote our food abroad along with our tradition and culture. If local food can be promoted along with the taste of Raithane, our art culture will also be promoted along with the food. And, domestic and foreign tourists can be attracted.

'Tusa' and 'Raithane' run by youth in Kathmandu Valley are doing very well. There is an increased trend of using local products like juju dhow as a dessert. Various cocktails and mocktails can be made from local products such as kimbu, laligurans, bhuinchuk, dalechuk.

Rolpa, Dolpatir dalechuk has about five times more vitamin C than amla or orange. We have also made a 'Great Himalayan' cocktail using dalechuk (sea buckthorn) at 'Gaas Bas Ko'. It's an effort we've made, even if it's a small one. We source Sea Buckthorn from Kathmandu Organics. Sometimes we also take from farmers.

'grass bash' and 1970's disco themed supper club we use mostly organic and organic drinks. We make 'Gaas Bas Ko Tonic' signature drinks from Nepali brand tea. For that we use Suiro's 'Butterfly Pea Flower Tea'. But we have not been able to promote such local products. There has been some effort and contribution from the private sector. But nothing has happened from the government level.

The idea developed that if we say marijuana, it should be banned. Hemp is a plant that can be used in many ways. It can be used to make clothes such as shoes, sandals, bags and shorts. Cannabis oil has also been used for its medicinal properties. We are restricting that it should be properly regulated.

In recent times, the youth has put forward many 'creative and innovative ideas'. He has done new work in various fields. But our leadership has not been able to rise above the traditional thinking. The main reason for this is their upbringing, studies and thinking. They think that gaza is a bad thing and only depraved people use it. So it should be regulated, not closed.

Nepal can also be developed as an adventure tourism destination. Adventure tourism including sky jump, bungee jump, paragliding, zipline, rafting, hot air balloon can be promoted by linking it with the Himalayan region and mountain greenery. There are some jobs from the private sector. But it also has problems with security and regulation.

There is also a possibility that we can develop it as 'medical tourism'. If we can promote 'medical tourism' by targeting Indian tourists especially in the border area, it can contribute significantly to the development of the country.

Nepal is a small place in terms of the world market. Therefore, it is not possible only from the private sector. Government initiative is absolutely necessary in this. Recently, British Prince Edward and Duke of Edinburgh visited Nepal. Some time ago, Prince Faisal bin Fahran Al Saud of Saudi Arabia came to Nepal.

Indian Congress leader Rahul Gandhi paid a personal visit. Moreover, Prince Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Thani of Qatar came during the Covid and climbed the Amadablam mountain in Solukhumbu. But we missed out on bringing such important events to the world. If we can publicize such issues including the private sector under government leadership, tomorrow will also change with our bid.
