It is a dream of all of us to play women's World Cup football. Even my own. We haven't even won the SAFF championship yet. So maybe the World Cup dream has become a bit too ambitious. But it is not impossible if we plan well and execute it.

At least we have to dream of playing the women's Asia Cup. It is more than likely to happen.

Our women's football has more potential than men's in international football. Women's football has a different international equation compared to men's football. If the number of countries participating in the World Cup and Asia Cup is increased in the coming years, Nepal's chances are high. As difficult as it may be to advance in men's soccer, it may not be as difficult to do the same in women's soccer. It will be even easier.

All it takes is hard work. Now we are playing the Four Nations Cup at home. This big test for us  will remain This is the first time that such a tournament involving four countries is going to be held here in Nepali women's football. This is the kind of competition we need. There should be more opportunities for us to go outside South Asia and play. Such opportunities can be a good option to promote Nepali women's football. One of the best aspects of Nepali women's football is that we are loved by our fans immensely. It should be an international tournament, there is no shortage of people who prefer to watch football at the stadium itself. Especially the WAF Championship 2024 has also increased the popularity of women's football. The Nepali team's performance in this competition has won the hearts of many. Still, the tendency to talk about that competition has not subsided.

I myself have felt this directly. We can also weave a plan based on our performance in the current Four Nations Cup. Qualifiers for both the Women's World Cup and Asia Cup are three to four months away. The selection draw has not yet been released. It would be good for us to focus on that and play a few more friendly internationals after the Four Nations Cup. We also need friendly international matches against top level teams.

The development of football in any country should not be the same. The biggest foundation needed for this is age group football itself. This is the reason why FIFA has given so much importance to 'grassroots' football. My biggest opinion is that Nepal should pay more attention to women's age group football. I was lucky because I was able to learn and play my way up here through the age group. Age group football gives a great education to the players.

I learned football almost from an academy. Therefore, an academy should be established for age group football. There is a difference between the football played by Lahar and the football learned in the academy. Today's football is a very technical game. It is essential to understand the style of playing football, its technical aspects and philosophy. So the academy is the biggest need. Age-group leagues are also required.

In other countries of South Asia, academies have become for women's football. Age group league football has started. We will not delay it. Leagues at the U-14, U-16 or U-18 levels mature players. Talented new players will come from this league. I think there is no shortage of talented players for our women's football, they just need to be given opportunities and facilities.

Even our women's domestic league is not strong on its own. Sometimes we don't have a chance to play. This year has been a happy one for women's football, because this time the women's league was held. There were many games. A league like this is what we need. Players get more playing opportunities. The league like this time, should be better than that in the next year.

This sequence should not be stopped, it should be made more extensive. The league is not called the backbone of football. We also need more women's teams. If the province-province and city-city have their own team, it will be unique. Although at a small level, the provinces have also started organizing their own separate leagues. Nepali women also need other knockout tournaments.

If the country invests in Nepali women's football in every way, the results will come soon. There is no fear of getting wasted when investing in this area like in other areas. As much time as I have had the opportunity to play. I have gained experience by going abroad, the bottom line is that Nepali women's football really has a lot of potential. We have only to work a little harder, and our achievements will be proportionately greater. Nepal's potential in international women's football is a beautiful aspect.
