The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has more followers on Instagram than the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). As of the time of writing, CJP has been followed by about 13 million people. The BJP account has 8.8 million followers. A website called has also been launched in the name of Cockroach Janata Party. The party has been in existence for only 5 days. According to the information given on the website, more than 1 lakh people have joined the party in 72 hours. Similarly, it has been informed that 2 Lok Sabha members are also on the party's board. Trinamool Congress MPs Mahua Moitra and Kirti Azad had said that they supported the party. The CJP website also mentions that the MPs have publicly accepted the membership of CJP.

Mahua Moitra shared CJP's post and said that she also wanted to become a member of the 'Anti-National Party'. Kirti Azad also asked what qualifications are required to join the party. CJP has also replied that, 'Winning the 1983 World Cup is enough.' Kirti Azad was also a team member under Kapil Dev's captaincy when India won the 1983 World Cup.

What is the 'Kakroch Janata Party' that is creating a stir in India?

Currently, the 'Main Bhi Kakroch' or 'I am also a cockroach' campaign has been launched. CJP has presented itself as the voice of the lazy and unemployed.

The campaign was symbolically named after Indian Chief Justice Suryakant called the youth lazy and cockroaches.

CJP claims it is a 'political platform for youth, by youth' for the youth. In a few days, lakhs of youth have joined this campaign. The founder of this party is Abhijeet Deepke, a 30-year-old student studying public relations at Boston University.

He worked as a volunteer in the social media team of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) from 2020 to 2023.

CJP claims to be the 'voice of people frustrated with the current system'.

In fact, there are various criticisms about the name of the party. Some have also said that it is based on the alleged statement of the Chief Justice of India Surya Kant. Surya Kant had made a similar statement targeting the youth. Surya Kant had said, 'Some youth are like cockroaches.' Those who do not get jobs, they attack the system by becoming media, social media or RTI activists.' Later, he even claimed that his statement was distorted.

But CJP founder Abhijeet Deepke has responded to this in a humorous manner. He said, 'As the founder of the Cockroach Janata Party, I condemn this explanation.' The CJP has also released an AI-generated anthem. It says, 'We are Cockroach Party, We are Children of a Burning City.' The CJP has also said that it will hold the first Gen-G conference virtually.

The CJP has also raised its voice about the paper leaks and irregularities in exams like the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and CBSE, which have been shaking Indian politics in recent times.

CJP's five-point manifesto has also been made public. CJP demands that no Chief Justice will be given a Rajya Sabha seat after retirement. The 46th Chief Justice of India, Ranjan Gogoi, became a Rajya Sabha MP shortly after retirement. He retired from the Chief Justice on November 17, 2019 and became a Rajya Sabha MP on March 17, 2020.

Similarly, CJP has another declaration - if any valid voter is removed from the voter list, action should be taken against the Chief Election Commissioner under the UAPA Act. CJP's manifesto also mentions 50 percent reservation for women in Parliament and Cabinet and guarantees of press freedom. Similarly, it has also announced that it will bring a system to prevent MPs and MLAs who change parties from contesting elections for 20 years.

CJP founder Abhijit has said that their movement will not be like that of the Gen-Gs of Nepal and Bangladesh. He said that journalists asked him if there would be a movement like in Nepal and Bangladesh.

He said, 'I want to make this clear. Don't insult India's Gen-G by making such a comparison. The youth of this country are very mature, aware and politically conscious. They know their constitutional rights, they also know how to dissent democratically and peacefully.'
