New cabinet formed in Australia, 11 women among 22 members

Australia's newly elected Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced the new cabinet. In the 22-member cabinet, half i.e. 11 ministers are women. Albanizi became the prime minister for the second term after the ruling party Labor won with the majority of seats in the elections held a week ago in Australia.

9 days after the completion of the election, Prime Minister Albanizi formed the cabinet. In the cabinet formed on Monday, Penny Wong has continued as Foreign Minister, while Treasurer Jim Chalmers has also returned to his old ministry.

Even though the cabinet has not been changed much, women are more attached than male ministers . This step of the Prime Minister has been praised by Australian politicians and analysts. In the team of ministers announced by him, Richard Marles has been elected as the Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister, while Tony Burke has become the Immigration Minister .
 
Women ministers in the new cabinet include Penny Wong, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Katy Gallagher, Minister for Finance, Social Security, Women and Pregnancy Services, Catherine King, Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government, Amanda Rhysworth, Minister for Employment and Workplace Services, Michelle Rowland, Attorney General, Tanya Pliervesk, Minister for Social Services, Julie Collins, Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Housing, Claire O'Neill Minister for Homelessness and Urban Affairs, Madeleine King, Minister for Mines and Northern Australia, Marlardiri McCarthy, Minister for Indigenous Australians, Annika Wells, Minister for Communications and Sport and Anne Ely, Minister for Small Business, International Relations and Multicultural Affairs.

In the results of the elections held nine days ago, it has won 93 seats, while the Liberal Coalition has managed to win only 41 seats.  In the previous term, Labor had won 76 seats while Liberal had won 58 seats. In this election, both Labor and the Liberal Coalition made health, tax, medicare, immigration and other issues the main issues in the election. Along with the formation of the new government, Labor has said that it will prioritize various tasks according to its election promises.  

In order to solve the housing problem seen in Australia recently, the Labor Party said that it will build 100,000 houses for citizens who are going to buy houses for the first time after the election. For that, the party had promised 10 billion dollars . It was mentioned that a rule to keep only 5 percent deposit for buying a house will be introduced. The coming government is going to fulfill such promises. Similarly, the visa application fee of international students coming for study will be increased. The current fee of 1,600 dollars will be increased to 2,000 dollars.

 

Every student who has taken an educational loan will get 20 percent of their loan fee waived. Also, a plan has been announced that 100,000 students will be given technical education for free from 2027. With the formation of the new cabinet, it is expected that the government may introduce more stringent rules on immigration.
