US President-elect Donald Trump has indicated that he will hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. In a conversation with NBC News, Trump mentioned that he has talked to about 70 world leaders so far and said that there is a possibility of talks with Putin as well.
Trump said he had a 'good conversation' with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He also said that he had a conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. But Trump did not say anything in detail about the conversation, according to NBC . Mentioning that there is no dialogue with Putin at the moment, he said, 'I think we will talk.'
Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated Trump. According to Dmitry Peskov, President Putin's press secretary, President Putin congratulated Trump during an event. According to the Russian news agency TASS, Putin congratulated Trump on being elected at an event held at the Valdai International Discussion Club on Thursday. Quoting Putin's statement, Tash wrote, 'I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Trump on being elected as the US President. I have already said that we will work with a president who has the confidence of the American people.' However, President Putin has not formally sent a letter of congratulations to the US President-elect Trump.
With the election of Trump as the American president, some have said that the Ukraine-Russia war can be stopped. Also, during the election campaign, Trump himself also made a
claim that he would stop the war within a day if he became president. Trump will assume the responsibility of the American president as the second term on January 20. Russian President Putin has also said that he is ready for discussions with Trump. In the context of the fatal attack on Trump last July, Putin also praised Trump as a brave person.
