Japan drew 1-1 with Sweden in the next match. Japan finished second with five points and also qualified for the knockout stage. The result ensured that Sweden, the third-best team, also qualified for the second round. Tunisia, meanwhile, remained disappointingly on zero points and have lost all three of their matches in a row.
Elias Schary's own goal in Kansas City gave the Netherlands the lead in the third minute. Brian Robbie then added a second goal in the seventh minute. Hazem Mustari pulled one back for Tunisia in the 54th minute. 
Jan-Paul Van Gaal scored the third goal in the 62nd minute to seal the victory for the Netherlands. In Dallas City, Japan took the lead in the 56th minute through Daizen Maeda, but it didn't last long and Anthony Elanga equalized in the 62nd minute.
