Agarwal said that Nepal's priority is men's cricket and now they should be able to invest money in women's cricket as well.
What you should know
Pawan Agarwal, one of the first generation players to play international cricket representing Nepal, has said that Nepali women's cricket is under-resourced and that money should be invested in women's cricket as well.
He said that there is at least NPL for male players, but there is no such thing for female players.
He said that although the women's team achieved success in the early days, other countries have also developed a lot in women's cricket in recent times, saying that Nepal is lagging behind in that. He said, 'Now the level of the women's team has also reached a lot. Now the performance of the Australian and Indian teams has reached a different level. Earlier, women's cricket was pale, now where has it gone from here? Now our priority is on men's cricket. Now we should be able to invest money in women's cricket too.'
He, who was also a member of the Nepali team when he went to Canada for the first time in 2001 to play the ODI World Cup qualifiers, said that female players should also play as many international games as possible, and he asked, 'Unless we have a domestic format, how will we get results in women's cricket? How will we become players if we don't get to play?' He said that the number of female players is still low and stressed that the first thing to do is to create an environment for playing.
