Karan KC of the Nepalese cricket team knew more about how to win over the great rival Scotland. However, Karan has no idea what happened after Nepal defeated Scotland on home soil in World Cup Cricket League-2 in an incredible manner on Monday.

At Forthhill the final ball rush was at its peak. With the score tied, Nepal needed 1 run in the last ball to win and only 1 wicket was left. A win by a run, a dot ball or a wicket would tie the score and the match would go into a super over.

The ball that went towards the leg side off the bowling of Mark Watt was not 'collected' by Scotland's wicketkeeper Matthew Cross, and Karan ran into a non-strike. But the leg umpire raised his finger saying that Region Dhakal was run out at the strike end. The chief umpire said that after the last ball was given wide, Nepal collected the required 1 run and Karan lifted the bat in the air and then the region collapsed on the ground in surprise of the runout.

'I was sure that the umpire would give that ball wide, because the ball went from my leg side without touching the pad, I was thinking that the ball would come full toss and take a run,' Karan narrated that movement, 'but I don't know anything about what happened next. All the supporters entered the field. They pushed and carried me to the pavilion. I still can't believe it.'

The moment when the spectators entered the field after Nepal's victory, in the 1980s, as soon as England won the match, the spectators entered the field and carried the players of their team, where the players used to run 100 meters to escape from the crowd of spectators.

Nirmal Paudel and Thaneshwar Gyawali, who came to Dandi from Kathmandu to watch the match, still cannot believe Nepal's victory. They believe that the way Nepal won the match was because of the large crowd. "Even the little children were shouting in favor of Nepal throughout the day, this encouraged other spectators and filled the Nepali team with energy," said Gyawali.

Nepali supporters have arrived in Dundee from England's London, Liverpool, Scotland's Glasgow, Edinburgh and Ireland. In League 2 this match was priced at £20. But on the official website of Scotland Cricket, it was reported that the tickets were sold out after a problem on Sunday night, due to which the spectators coming from a long distance canceled the schedule to come to Dundee due to lack of tickets.

Scotland Cricket (SC) was selling tickets from outside the ground. According to the SC, this procedure will be applied to other sports as well. The audience capacity is 1 thousand. On Monday, around 500 spectators came to the field to watch the game. Among them, more than 400 Nepalese remained.

Valentine boy to miracle man

Looking at the condition and the wicket, the target of 297 runs given by Scotland was not only very challenging but almost impossible for Nepal. Because Nepal had previously chased the highest target of 287 runs. That was possible twice. In League 2 against Namibia in 2023 and in the ODI series against Canada last year. Coincidentally, both matches were played in Kirtipur.

The history of chasing the highest run target in foreign soil is 255 runs. In 2019, after Paras Khadka scored 115 runs off 109 balls, Nepal crossed the target within 45 overs. After Karan hit 3 fours and 4 sixes in 41 balls and scored an unbeaten 65 runs, Nepal managed to chase the biggest target by completing the target of 297 runs in Dandi in the last ball.

This is my role, I am not Karan KC if I do not play this role. My role is to finish the game no matter what the batting and bowling is," Karan, who played an incredible innings while batting at number nine, told Kantipur after the game, "Sometimes I feel like we should bat higher than this. But Tim and I are clear about our responsibilities. Karan believes that he will play till the end, take the game to the last over and if he is allowed to finish, he will win the game. The team also understands that they can go up and bat. But now there are others in that role.'

Everyone got out after playing a useful innings. Karan and Gulshan Jha added 54 runs off 44 balls for the seventh wicket and Nepal came close to victory. Karan is clear about his role. He said, "I fulfilled the role that the team gave me. My role was to finish the game. In the beginning, the situation was a bit difficult, we wanted to take the game to the last 5 overs and then play according to what happens. Even in the last 5 overs, the game could be won by scoring 10 runs per over. It was a bit difficult when Gulshan's wicket, which had already been set, went.' Our opening batting was good, we had a partnership of 70 runs. It settled our rhythm. I was clear that I had to score 25 runs in the last 12 balls, I had to hit 4 sixes. He would have hit two boundaries, which would have made it 12-13 runs in the last over. It is luck that 18 runs came in the 49th over," said Karan, "5 runs should have been scored in the last 3 balls. I was supposed to hit a boundary. If I didn't hit even one boundary after being set like this, I would lose my respect. However, both the fourth and fifth balls did not come in my range. The fourth ball looked like a six for sure, but the ball was dragged by the wind and only 2 runs were scored. While chasing the target of 195 runs given by Canada in Windhoek, Namibia in 2018, Nepal scored 144 runs and lost 9 wickets. Karan, who was batting at number 10 when Nepal needed 51 runs, scored an unbeaten 42 runs off 31 balls with 3 fours and 4 sixes to give Nepal a 1-wicket victory. Nepal became an ODI nation due to the same innings of

Karan. Karan played another 'miracle innings' at a time when Nepal's one-day international status was in jeopardy, with Nepal at the bottom with only 6 points from 12 matches in the current circle of League 2. This is only Nepal's third win in 13 matches of League 2. With the victory over Scotland, Nepal has overtaken the UAE from the bottom with 8 points and has come to seventh place.

Captain Rohit Paudel says that Karan's innings reminded him of the innings he played against Canada 7 years ago. That innings with Canada and this innings are very close, no comparison can be made. Karan is the magical man who has saved Nepali cricket," said Rohit, "We were watching very nervously when Karan was batting. The belief was that Karan Dai would finish the game. Winning the match from this position is a very magical moment.'' says opening batsman Kushal Bhurtel. Karan Dai has always been a crisis man, he has pulled the team out of the crisis. Karan Dai had played such an innings before, so we were confident that he would play again,' said Kushal.
